Title: MLP fanmade calendar 2018 -Done-Printing

Notice: we had a few problems last year. as a few pictures were late and several person couldn't finish due to personal problems, so the calendars got out really really late.
Do we want to try again this year?
if we try again, and you don't think you'll be able to get a picture by nov 30, please don't sign up. I don't want to force others to wait, as there is set up and prep i'll need to do on the printing end. that being said. who wants to sign up?

I have the digital copies from last year, but never got emails from some and if i did, don't know what they are now. sorry. this has been a truly awful year, and I'm coming back to the arena just to see if people still want to do this project. so if you still need this years message me. I'll make a point to come on at least 3 times a week.
sorry things fell apart, but at this point if people don't have a picture in by nov 30th. then either I'll draw them myself. or I'll use older pictures from previous years. waiting just gets frustrating for me etc.

it's first come first claim, so pick your month when you post.

Physical copies are 5$ each plus shipping (combine shipping if you want more than one)
pdf copies are free.



Picture due date- no later than nov 30th

so what it is, is 12 artists (maybe 13) ban together. each taking a month and drawing a picture 11 x 8 1/2  with the pony theme. prefer to use the hasbro characters rather than ocs.
all pictures have to be your original work. please no copying or tracing any stock art.
any drawing level is fine.

I'll print them at my work. my company has changed a few policies so i have to double check on the cost of printing these. shouldn't be much more if any. shipping will still be about 5$
then you get the printed calender in the mail.
(a digital one would be free)

I'll be printing them at my work which is a professional book making company. so the quality will be good. and the cost literally just cover materials and shipping.
i feel bad putting a cost on it, but since i can't afford to make and ship one for everyone its' only fair for everyone to pay for their own. of course if you want to submit a picture for the calendar and just get a digital copy of the calendar there would be no cost.

what do you think? who want to try this?

it's first come first serve on months and characters. since we don't want to have a whole calender just of mintys (though i know some of you may not agree), lets keep it to 2 appearance by each character, for the really popular characters. any generation is fine.

this is not commission based. all artist are volunteers only.
if i can get more than 5 people i'll fill in the gaps myself if i have to. :)
the only time any money is changing hands is if you want me to print a copy of the calendar and send it to you.

oh and if you want one and aren't drawing for the calendar, well if it's ok with the artist you can get one too.
there will be no profits made from any of this, but it depends. so artist as you sign up. please say if you are willing to have non-participates get one of the calendars or not. then it will be decided at the end.

pm me or post in the forum to claim your spot!

Picture requirements are:
-original art
-11x8 1/2 landscape picture.
-theme must match month chosen
-images scanned or sent at 400 dpi (or they will look horrible printed.)
if you can't scan in the image yourself, you are welcome to send it to me, and i'll return your original art with the calendar.

if you missed out on a calendar from last year, or one never arrive please let me know. there was alot of confusion when everything was going out.

I would like July.  Since my scanner scans in watercolor (what I work with most) very badly, if you have a better quality scanner I may send it to you for scanning.

yes I can scan in pictures here.

Which reminds me to those who sent pictures last year. I'm ashamed to say, yes i still have them. and can return them if you would like them back.

I'd love October, please! I want an excuse to draw a Halloween pony picture! :P

EDIT: Since I would be doing this digitally, what size do I make the canvas in pixels so it's 11 x 8 1/2? Never mind figured it out thanks to the power of Google.

A few things I've noticed about past calendars that I want to point out (hope thats ok RJ):

Mind you these are just recommendations and by no means am I telling anyone how to do art!

CUTE! And I seem like I remember people posting last year on the page as well to show off their artwork.

I got my ponies sketched yesterday, I gotta figure out a background idea and start checking my markers to see which ones still work and which ones are dry.

February is done, sorry its not more detailed I have not been in a pony drawing mood as of late. I've hit a pony art slump if you will.

I'm debating adding stickers to the top but I dunno.

sorry that i hadn't replied to this. you were added, but I updated the main thread.

I'll be taking the cover as well as may since no one wanted to do that one.

everyone there is about 50 days left to get your artwork finished and sent to me.
I'll message those that have already posted in the thread. and a confirmation will be added to your name when I have your file or image in the correct size etc. thanks. can't wait to see this calendar finished.

Well, I have bad news.  July is ruined.  I was ambitious and drew on paper larger than what I can scan at home.  So I went and paid $9.00 at the FedEx Print Shop to have it scanned on their machine.  Half the colors are GONE!  Beach, sky, Bouncy, Bubbles and Angel's body color...gone.  My home scanner has trouble with watercolor sometimes, but it's 10 times better than the piece of crap machine at FedEx.  I guess I will have to decide what part to cut to fit and scan at home for the calendar.

Here's the whole drawing scanned at Fedex.

Gator, I'm sure someone on this thread can help! Scan it in quarters, and someone who has PS or the like, can put them together to one picture! (if noone else, I can try - I missed this project it seems, but I'll gladly help if I can), seems a shame to me if you have to crop it down D:

Too late.  I hated doing it but only way to fit in my scanner.  I was too ambitious wanting to make such a big scene and use my big art pad.  I'll stick to my small paper from now on.  Thank you tailrustedtealeaf for editing it back together for me.

This one's really pretty!! I love the combination of G1 and G4, and the effects are really lovely!

I've given a week's worth of grace period for people to get them in, but we are still missing most of the year.
if anyone is able to do a second month. please let me know ASAP.
If you mailed it to me or are still working on it. please let me know your progress so I don't replace your picture.

Any extra pictures will fill gaps as necessary. if they don't exactly match the month. it's better than a blank page.
I would like to have any last minute pictures by Mon at the latest. So then I can assemble them and print them by friday.
If we end up with extra pictures we can use them for next year's calendar.

Please let me know if you'd like a printed copy. I've already heard from Fox and received payment. Thank you fox!

So here's the skinny on the printed copies.
i'm printing all of them tomorrow night.
-If you are in the US and want priority shipping (which is about 7.50- think it went up), I can ship it out on friday.
-if you want first class shipping you will need to send me your zip, and i'll get a shipping total to you, but it won't ship until after Christmas. it's a bad time to go the post office.
-If you're an international pony friend. the second applies to you, as priority shipping starts closer to 35$.... scary!

If you're looking for a digital copy... I'm open to suggestions. last year the file was so large I wasn't able to email it to many of the people who ask (think there are some who still didn't get one... don't be afraid to remind me... my brain scatters easy).
it can be 2GB easy, and is a pdf file. is there an online storage that we can make it open access to those who want one?

maybe a password posted here, then changed or deleted when everyone has one, who wants one?

Have you looked into dropbox for file sharing? I think they will allow larger files to be shared, although people may need to sign up for a free account.

2 Gigs is pretty big!! Would saving as a jpg reduce the filesize to something a little more manageable?

I did. I'll be using it for Jan. Since i checked through my pms and didn't find a picture from TheBeatlesPkmnFan42 for it.
