Sigs & Site Support / All of the polls look messed up
« on: April 22, 2014, 07:04:12 AM »
Has anyone else noticed this? I don't think it's my computer because my browser hasn't changed or been updated. I was hoping it would go back to normal, but it's been nearly a week. The list choices still go down in a single row, but the results shown after you've voted are in two rows.

Nintendo posted an announcement yesterday stating that they will be terminating the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection service for both previous generation consoles, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS.

What does this mean? Basically, you will no longer be able to connect to others online to play games such as Animal Crossing Wild World, Animal Crossing City Life -- or any other Wii/DS game after May 20, 2014.

The 3DS and Wii U connection service will remain operable (likely until at least next generation), and you will still be able to play your Wii/DS games with others on a local Wi-Fi connection.

Off Topic / Dying to get my old vintage workouts on DVD
« on: February 26, 2014, 01:55:37 PM »
I'm a hardcore video fitness nut. I currently own about 65 DVDs/CDs after a huge purge of what I didn't want/need/use anymore. I've had hundreds over the years. Anyway, I don't have a VCR anymore, but a lot of my old favorites are on YouTube. I don't know how to make DVDs, but I want them so badly. Because of my small space and how the room is set up, it's impossible for me to use the computer to do a workout. I need actual DVDs. I don't have fancy computer software and my phone is an old school one without Internet. I'd ask for some help, but I think it would just be too hard for me to understand. Is there a company that would burn some DVD-R's for me? I'm guessing the answer is probably no because of copyrights. :( Of course they would be for my own personal use, so I wouldn't be sharing them or making any money. I just want my old Denise Austin workouts back. Hew newer ones are okay, but I miss the ones I did as a teen in the 90s. I've written letters, but the problem with old workouts is that a lot of the time people don't know who owns the rights to them anymore. That means they'll probably never be converted to DVD.

Is this an impossible dream I should give up on, or does anyone here know where I can go for help?

Off Topic / How come it doesn't work if it's never had batteries in it?
« on: February 26, 2014, 09:00:40 AM »
Seeing the recent Furby thread got me thinking about this. When I bought mine MIB from eBay a few years ago, the seller said that they couldn't guarantee it would work even though it's never been removed from the box. They offered to open the box, check it out, and possibly fix it (if needed) before sending it to me. I told them it was for display, so I didn't want the box opened. But now I'm wondering... Why wouldn't an old toy work if it's never been used? I mean, obviously if it didn't come with a battery inside, it's not like it got destroyed by an old, leaking battery. Is it just because of age that it wouldn't work? Or is it because maybe it's gotten bumped and tossed around over the years?

Edit: Oops! I thought I was in the Off Topic forum. Please move this over there. Sorry!

Off Topic / What is "The Slaughterhouse" forum?
« on: February 17, 2014, 07:41:37 AM »
I always see it on the menu, but I don't have access there. If I'm not allowed in, shouldn't it be hidden from my view? What kinds of discussions are there, and how many posts do you need for access?

[I'll move this over to Off Topic since it's more of a lighthearted thread. - SDS]

Sigs & Site Support / Forum suggestion?
« on: January 29, 2014, 07:13:08 AM »
I've noticed a lot of "What is the toy?" threads in the Off Topic forum lately. I love helping people hunt down their beloved forgotten childhood toys. Would you consider making some kind of toy identification forum? Maybe it can be put close to the Dollhouse section. :)

Pony Corral / The mystery of Mimic's appeal
« on: July 16, 2013, 11:58:39 AM »
Well, it's a mystery to me, anyway. When I was new to the MLP forums in the late '90s, Mimic wasn't very popular. People said her pose is stupid, her colors are ugly, etc. I've always been "eh" about her. Don't love her or hate her. I doubt I'll ever own her because I'm not looking, and if I find her, I'd be happy to sell. The "value" of a pony isn't important to me. With everything I collect, I only choose what I think looks good. Every collection I've ever had is rather small because I'm so picky. Anyway, to get back on track... It seems like people really love Mimic now. Do you really think she's pretty, are you only interested because she's hard-to-find, or do you dislike her? Did you dislike her at one time and then changed your mind? Value aside, do you actually like her for her looks?

I'd really like to you hear your thoughts because she was really disliked by many people back in the day. LOL. I mean, I know I haven't been around the boards much over the last several years, but it's like night and day with the Mimic love.

Pony Corral / How/why did you choose your persona?
« on: July 02, 2013, 06:01:38 AM »
A little background info first:
Even though my post count is very small, I've been part of the MLP community since the late '90s. I joined the original MLPTP in either 1999 or 2000. I think their current forum was started a few years later, but I didn't rejoin until 2007. (Same user name, though; I've always been Tap Dancer.) I tend to post a little, disappear for a few years, return, and so on. I'm going to try to stick around permanently this time.

So here's my story:
I've been a MLP collector and lover since 1982. I was 4 years old and Cotton Candy was my first pony. I don't remember if she was given as a gift or if I saw her in a store and wanted her, but I know it was instant love. I had tons of ponies growing up. I had lots of others toys, but ponies were my main desire. I bought them with my allowance and got them for holidays, birthdays, and just because I was spoiled by an awesome mom.

When I found MLPTP, I wanted a pony-related user name, but I didn't want to use one that was "popular." It seemed like so many people wanted to be Applejack, Glory/Baby Glory, Firefly/Baby Firefly, etc. I wanted a more "uncommon" name; something that no one else was likely to claim. I did some quick research and discovered the Dance 'n Prance ponies. I didn't even remember them. I was delighted to learn there was a pony named Tap Dancer because I took tap dancing classes for over 10 years. I loved it! Anyway, another reason I was drawn to Tap Dancer is that purple is one of my favorite colors. I was meant to have her become my persona. :)

I'm not currently collecting. I owned a small website called "In my Toy Box" from 2000 to 2008. When I finally decided to close my website, I donated the unsold toys I didn't want to our local DAV. Now I own just a small number of G1 and G3 ponies. I also still have some Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, and a few other special childhood toys. Money and space are the reasons my collection is small. I might start collecting again in the future, but I'm not interested in a big collection. I never was, though. I'm the picky type who buys only what I like, and condition is important to me.

That last paragraph was completely off-topic; sorry. :P Now it's your turn to share your story. I tag everyone who reads this thread! :)

Introductions / Hi!
« on: June 24, 2013, 08:49:34 AM »
Some of you may know me; I've been a part of the pony community since the late '90s. I tend to come and go, but I had no idea I had been away for so long! I returned to MLPTP yesterday after having been gone for 2 years (I'm Tap Dancer over there), but it looks like I haven't been here since 2007...and with only 6 posts?! Whoa! LOL. I'll have to be better about that. ;)
