Suspicious Etsy Seller: Should I be worried? (RESOLVED!)
« on: January 18, 2014, 09:23:01 PM »
ETA: Seller two day shipped a new pair of armwarmers to me to make up for the one lost in the mail and apologized for the delay in communication. Recieved them today and they're great!

I'm not familiar with Etsy so I was hoping some Etsy sellers can help me out.

I ordered a pair of armwarmers off Etsy on Christmas Day. The description said to allow up to one week for creation. Due to the date I ordered, I gave them 2 weeks.

By week 3 I have heard nothing and my order had not been shipped. I messaged the seller on the 11th of January asking what was going on with my order and the following day my order was marked shipped. I heard nothing else from the seller, no apologies, no reasons for the delay, no nothing. Just marked shipped (with no tracking info) and ignored.

I live near Los Angeles. The seller is near San Francisco. My item should've arrived by now and I find it awfully suspicious my order was marked shipped the day after I complained and I'm even more annoyed the seller made no attempt to talk to me after I reached out.

I'm close to giving a deadline; if I do not get my armwarmers by the 25th I want a refund. Am I jumping the gun or being impatient? What should I do?

I think you've been very generous with your time. You idea of an ultimatum of the 25th Jan is more than fair. 1 month should have been plenty of time for the arm warmers to be complete and shipped.

Of course, there could be real life issues, but if you are having difficulties in real life and are running a small business like this, then you should take the time to put some kind of message up for your customers.

You have been MORE than fair about this, no communication is just shady. At least if they are having issues or are busy they should say something!!

I messaged the seller asking for tracking (apparently he gives out out when an order is shipped but I never got tracking or anything for that matter) and gave a hard deadline of the 25th.

I was considering buying from him again once I got the money but after being ignored and brushed off I think I'll take my business elsewhere.

:bigups:  Let us know if he does eventually respond. Either way I think I would take my business elsewhere in future

The seller got back in touch with me. Once to let me know he was looking for the tracking number, the second time to let me know that the tracking number turns up nothing. He has sent me another order to make up for the lost one.

But he wouldn't actually GIVE YOU the tracking number, am I correct? What the heck does he mean "the tracking turned up nothing"??

If that's the case, my thought is he never made the armwarmers in the first place, and is trying to cover his tracks now.

What a pain :(  I sure hope he realizes now that he better be getting his act together to get you yours armwarmers!

Either way, I would probably avoid business with this particular seller again.  Even if the armwarmers do eventually arrive (which why it took this long to get any real status is ridiculous), I'd worry you may not luck out a second time.

Keep us posted!!!

I did get tracking on the second set properly plugged into Etsy and it is showing movement thankfully.

This was what was said about the first set.

I have looked in the Etsy Shipping and can find no record of the label , only a payment so I am sending a new order out as a courtesy while I try to contact them for a solution.

ETA: They arrived today! Just need to make one alteration and they're perfect.
