Old Childhood ponies given new life?
« on: June 21, 2012, 06:39:43 PM »
I love picture topics ^o^

Today, inspired by the Tootie Tails POTD thread from a couple days ago, I took my childhood girl down for some loving. I have encountered stubborn frizz in the past, but I confess, this was my third time taking a curling iron to it, and this session, was over an hour long. In the end, I had to use my heated brush on her hair DRY in order for it to get even slightly smooth enough to be curled.

When I was a kid, I thought all ponies needed forelocks, I thought they looked better. Also her tail has been cut and her nondisplay sides symbol (the pineapple) has faded to almost white.

I just wanted to make her look good again...so...PERM!!!!!! I was so going for an 80's look here XD

I also took my sisters old Peachie out a few weeks ago. She was the first pony we had <3 Old, missing hair plugs, chewed on with coarse thin hair, this girl will never leave my heard <3 I gave her a shawl that my grandmother knitted for our Barbies before she died, and put her aged hair up in a bun. <3

Tootie Tails looks great! The hair style and bow fit her, she looks like an 80's girl anyway with the bright colors and bright eye makeup :D Reminds me of Jem and the Holograms *love*

When I get some money in I plan on getting some Dollyhair and rehairing my sister's childhood Firefly she gave me :) My friend in the UK gave me her childhood Gusty and she's in the process of being sunfaded and will be getting a rehairing as well! So mine her all a WIP right now, hehe :drunk:

Aw, Peachy is adorable!  And Tootie looks great!  I haven't done much to mine, really. I took fairly good care of mine.  But my childhood Surprise got a tail transplant, since I had cut hers when I was a kid.  (For some reason, her tail being long annoyed me.  Only on her!)  I gave the short tail to a Baby Surprise I got who had a bad haircut, and made him a boy.  XD

Alas I dont have any of my childhood ponies - unless a Cotton Candy pj case counts! :P

But I love what you have done with Tooties hair! Very 80s!

Pretty ponies!

I have a project I have been doing forever: rerooting my childhood Waverunner. I have the hair ready (even some nice UV reactive hair for her) but I just haven't managed to get started, even though I find rerooting fun and it wouldn't take long  Maybe I'll be inspired by this thread and finish her during the weekend. She has been bald for over 1 ½ years so it would be great to have her finally ready.

While I had no ponies as a kid (I mostly got hand-me-down toys from cousins because my mom couldn't afford many), Lemon Drop would have been #1 on my wish list then. My first (I say first because I need another!) was sticky-bodied & smelly when I got her.  :( I scrubbed her up & she's stayed matte for awhile now. As you can see, her head & body are 2 different colors & she's regrinding, but I still love her. I made her a necklace (so she doesn't have to be self-conscious about her tan line :P) & prettied her hair. :satisfied:
