Sure, rats are cool. Unless they are an animagus who were responsible for your parents murder.

She loves bling of any shape and size ;)

No, she's a red doberman, she's pretty but she's a big clutz and it feels like you've been stepped on by a horse when she steps on your feet.

The garage sale went great!  We made about 180 dollars.  Not bad at all, eh?  Anyway, today we went to the zoo…but it got a little late and we didn’t see as much of it as we wanted.  We’re going back Saturday, so look out for more pics then!

Here we are in the car, on the way to the zoo.  Cameo snuggled into the middle compartment, and Silverspell rode in the hollow underneath the door handle.

When we got to the zoo, we sat a while by the koi pond.  Silverspell wanted to jump in and play but I discouraged her.  Some of those fish could have eaten her in one bite!  Then they posed by a life-sized statue of a komodo dragon.  The zoo had a real one for a while, on loan from another zoo…it was awesome!

Next are several pictures from the Desert Dome—the first one showing the EPCOT-like dome in the background.  Next we have desert sand that I always want to play in and climb…and then a meeting with  meerkat who had leapt to the glass closing off the exhibit.  He was clawing underneath a tiny hole at the bottom of the glass…so freaking cute.

The inside exhibits are in artificial caves…here are Silverspell and Cameo looking at a snake.

All along the desert dome, on the rock walls, are cave paintings…very cool.

The girls liked the Kookaburras a lot…they’re among my favorites, too.  It was tough to get a decent pic of them and the birds because of the glass.  >P

We have a couple of general posing pics, and then a desert hare that looked adorable on the ground, asleep…I just wanted to cuddle it.

There is an awesome, life-sized metal sculpture right inside the entrance to the zoo…they wanted to pose on it.  I don’t blame them.  I’ve climbed on it plenty of times too.  It used to be up on a rock base, but now there’s rubber mat type material below it.  Didn’t want anyone getting hurt I guess.  :sigh:  It looked cooler before.

There’s an inside building, the Mutual of Omaha Pavillion…it has some bug exhibits, and learning exhibits, and the like.  Here they are enjoying some of them!

Next is the rainforest—my favorite place in the entire zoo.  It’s the country’s (possibly the world’s) largest indoor jungle.

First we have a recreation of an old campsite…the kind of thing explorers in past centuries had to reside in.  Then a random, fake vine…and some posing in front of the vampire bats…you can’t see the bats very well, unfortunately.  And yes—those are shallow dishes of blood.  C:<

Here are more random jungle pics…a waterfall, and some plants and birds…as before, Mom is helping me pose with them.  (I was very careful around the waterfall.)

I love this zoo.  XD  These next pictures are from the Aquarium—rennovated in fact!  It looks very cool inside.  Here’s a giant squid sculpture hanging from the ceiling as you walk in.

At one end of the penguin tank, there’s a bubble extending into the tank where people can sit and watch…that wooden platform did not used to be there.  I liked it before…it looked more like you were actually in the tank.  :sigh:  Oh well.  Anyway, one penguin saw Cameo and Silverspell and was trying to get at them.  XD  It was cute.  He kept pecking experimentally at the glass.

Next, a tropical beach…that made me want to go to a tropical island.  The next two pics are taken in the tunnel…water on both sides and above….there are sharks and rays and fish swimming all around and above you…freaking cool.

These jellyfish are part of the new exhibits…there used to be only the moon jellyfish—now there are all kinds in different tanks.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Next…tiny eels, and seahorses…Cameo was fascinated by the seahorses.  (Silversell seemed to like the sharks best.)

OK these are in the gift shop…do these look as bad to you as they do to me?  Silverspell was about in hysterics when she saw these.  And look at that motto under the name of the toy…  “Push my trigger and watch me squirt??”  :lmao:

Afterwards, we hung out at the snack area…and got a pic next to some flowers that smelled like feet.  >P

It was a nice day, even if I didn’t get all the pics I wanted.  When we got home, we just hung out.  Tomorrow, we go to Boys Town!

The one you have is actually pretty cool looking! LOL  I might have to borrow that idea when I send my little guy out, if I might?

I like bats too.  The big fruit bats are my favorites.

You took some great photos, cub! Of course you can! It gets more advertising for our traveling venture too :D
Don't bats have the cutest little faces (except for the ones with pig-noses) and I just love their beady little eyes.

I need to get a questionnaire/reminder out to my hostees soon. I can't believe it's like a month away!

Well we intended to go to Boys Town only for the ball of stamps…but we discovered there more to see than just the ball.  There was Father Flannagan’s historic house, and also a hall of history—so we snapped some pics there.

There were *the* coolest antiques there.  I wanted to take half of them home.  XD

(First a pic by the stature of the good father:)

An old icebox, a….recording device? And Dictaphone:

There was an old classroom with little bitty desks and some older ones:

Then a toy train:

Then an old radio and an old heater:

Next was the Hall of History where I wasn’t supposed to take flash pictures—but didn’t realize it until someone told me (a bit huffily) toward the end.  (Well excuse me for not noticing one thing on a crowded “welcome” board.  : P  )  Anyway… lol

Let’s see…some farm stuff and a marble game—Silverspell wanted to play—and  a scary-ass dentist’s chair.

Next a printer’s press…and then a show wagon where the kids would put on shows, playing instruments and making up acts:

Next a barber’s station—don’t worry, I didn’t let anyone get mane-cuts XD—some old Sea Scout (boy scouts) paraphernalia, the inside of an old bus, and a mock-up of an old computer:

Here is a picture of a statue that is of one of the most famous images regarding Boys Town—the boy with his little brother on his back.  This was an illustration Father Flannigan saw in a…magazine?...that greatly inspired him—a boy had a younger boy, asleep, carrying him on his back.  The caption read: “He ain’t heavy, mister, he’s m’brother.”  The phrase was changed to say “Father” instead of “mister”—and there was even a song made from it in the 60s….or 70s, I forget.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

And then—of course—the largest stamp-ball in the world!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

That thing has got to weigh 80 million pounds, LOL

Tomorrow I will post the journal for the zoo and the roleplaying game they came to today.  They are off on the next leg of their journey tomorrow!
