Someday you will be mine. I like his pastel colors.
POTD is changing things up, just a little bitty bit for 2021. For the entire month of January I'll be featuring white bodied ponies and also others that have a wintery theme. I'll continue to dedicate the first few days to birthday ponies in celebration of those born within that month. The last day of the month will be dedicated to a specific play set.

Want/Have-I'd love the real Ice Crystal, but since he's insanely pricey, I have a bee-u-ti-ful custom of him that I commissioned from the talented MarbleDragon.

want want want - I really want to complete the mountain boy set [I did have 3, but one was lost at my parents, so I am down to 2.] Ice Crystal I have never had, but really would love him... dropping over £100 on a pony does always make my wallet cry though :lol:

My second favorite Mountain Boy! How the green one isn't my favorite is bizarre to me, but Thundercloud just speaks to me, I guess.
This set is wonderful! I love the theme and the freckles, and the only color scheme that I don't consider above-average-pretty is Lightning; he bores me a bit. Their limited range has made them pricey, though, so I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon!

Have, though my fave is the other in that pose: Tornado. Still love him because he's green. Tornado, on account of his being blue, was one of my two childhood Mountain Boys I bought new

I think of him as the well meaning babysitter in the house of insanity that is Misty Mountain, the home of the Mountain Boys. He always seemed to be the one with the most actual common sense.
Maybe it's just me who thinks that way.
I have him. Carboot find. Before I was even online, I think. I seem to remember when I got in touch with my first trade partner we had a full set because I photographed them for her. At that time (in 1997) they were only a rumour online in the US, nobody had seen a picture, so I had to get an actual photo developed and mail it to her.
Here's where I dump the stat that I've easily found more Ice Crystals at carboot sales than I have year 2-3 pegasus or unicorn ponies, total.
Another fun fact - his original name seems to have been Frosty. I like Ice Crystal better.
The MB distribution is really odd. We had them, but most of Europe didn't. I think maybe some had them imported (maybe Hungary? Israel? not sure) and I know Scandinavia had them. Someone also bought one new in Malaysia as a kid. But what kind of distribution is that? xD.
They were only available I think between autumn 1987 and spring 1988. I think this because my mother bought Sunburst for me in Oct 1987 ahead of my sister being born, and I acquired two more after that. My birthday is Feb and Christmas is in the middle, so that makes sense for three. They definitely had 1987 style cards, and stickers, and they are on Hasbro UK's 1987 list.
Someone will probably be able to post the Thai version. I've only seen pictures of him, mine is HK.

I love everything about him, except that his pose is my least fave of all the male/draft-looking poses, but that's not a big deal as they are all pretty similar really... He's definitely my favorite of his set. I doubt if I will own him due to his price, but I have thought of making a custom of him with a different pose.

He's my favorite Mountain Boy, and I can see why he's so popular, his color combo is very unique, and works well to give him a wintery, woodsy feel. I can't see myself spending all that money to get him, however.

Thanks everyone! I agree with SunPony, he isn't in my favourite Clydesdale pose either, but everything else abut him is just perfect. :inlove: I love the idea of doing a custom of him in a different pose! Can't wait to see the results! :biggrin:
