What do YOU do with your doubles?

I've been curious about this! What normally happens to your doubles? Most of the time I end up cleaning them and giving them away to friends (yes, I'm a sentimental bunny and keep the old girls), but if it's a pony that doesn't have too much sentimental value, I'll often keep the one in better condition. I'm not known for hoarding copies of the same pony.

Tell me your experiences when it comes to extra ponies!

I generally sell all of my doubles as it helps me to fund both my own collection and helps to fund my customizing hobby (aside from G4's and some G3's I only bait ponies way beyond saving; anything else I restore)
If I get one that is way better than my original, I sometimes keep both, but often I sell on ponies far better than my own as I'm just too attached to my originals. I have a rule of once it's on my shelf, it stays forever. I'm way too sentimental about my ponies
I've actually wondered about this for a long time. I'm very curious to see how other collectors are with their ponies

I don't currently ave enough ponies for doubles to be an issue. But I don't think I would be able to let them go! I'm too sentimental. I've got a few doubles so far - Glory, Majesty, Fizzy - but my collection's split in two with half the country in between them, so I have one of each in each place.

I keep all my doubles and triples! Just about all my ponies are thrift store ponies so to me they are a like finding a rare treasure. And I'm afraid someone may buy a grab bag with a pony in it, and not want the pony but the other items in the bag.Plus all ponies look a bit different in hair, eyes and body colors so they are unique.
Now when I find ponies at antique shops and toy sales I never buy doubles or triples, I leave them behind because in my mind I know someone else who will appreciate them will buy them.

I used to sell my double and keep the pony in better condition BUT with time I see that I am keeping some of my double, even triple  I am sentimental

I'm a bit brutal    Not really an army collector and like to have very pretty ponies so if a double comes along and it's nicer.... then the older one gets re-homed!

I generally keep the one in better condition, but if it's a pony I'm particularly attached to I either keep both or sell the new one/give it away.

Unless it's a childhood pony, I tend to upgrade and sell on the less mint one. Some ponies I seem to hoard a bit, like sad CP ponies, though I'm working on rehairing and rehoming some of them now.

I dont have any room for my ponies as it is, so the doubles has to go.. I always keep the nicest ones, that because I keep them in my daughters rooms as they usually play with them, and then I want them to feel as "fresh" as possible if that makes any sense..

I usually sell the double and keep the one in better condition, but if the ponies have a color diffrence in plastic, or hair that is pretty both faded and with orginal color, or if its simply a factory curl to pretty to get rid of I keep the doubles.

If it's a common pony I give it to my mom. She's got her own small collection and all of them are doubles that she got from me. If it's a rare pony I'll sell it.

I sell/trade and keep the old if the old one is in better condition than the new one. I have no room for doubles.

I just keep them!  My pony collection is small enough at the moment that running out of room isn't a problem yet.  I'm really sentimental, so I'll just keep my doubles until it becomes an issue.  I have double Glory, double Star Catcher, triple Water Fire, and quite a few Pinkie Pies!  When I was little, my double G3s (the third Water Fire is a recent addition) were sisters or twins, or I would take turns playing with them depending on my mood at the time.

I voted for the first option, but the wording made it seem like it was brutal or something If it were a childhood pony vs a better condition pony though, no way would I part with it. Regardless of condition!

I sell any doubles. I prefer the ones from the first few G1 years. I'm not that attached to the later sets and I've sold most of those even if I only have one of them.
