Those ponies look great! I guess in the end I suppose all you can do it try and hope for the best. I'd rather have a frizzy stripe that I braided than risk making the color changing properties moot.

Yeah, I think it just boils down to personal preference.  I had a Sunshine pony (also a Beach Ball) with a stripe that was so frizzed that I wouldn't even call it 'hair' anymore.  It was basically a plastic brillo pad, lol.  My solution was to purge all Sunshine ponies from my collection.  But if I'd wanted to keep them, I would have tried the low heat method and replaced the stripes if it hadn't worked.  I don't mind the occasional haircut but I can't stand frizz.
