Transparent G4 ponies: let's discuss!

I'm desperately hoping that they will be released, but I have a feeling they're prototypes, just like Minty. However, it makes me wonder why they're wasting their time trying out glittery/shimmery ponies if they don't plan to EVENTUALLY release them.

And SoSilver, I'm super envious of you because you have not one, but two of them!

I think they will be released eventually.
But I worry about their plastic's quality.

I hope these get released, I loved the Sparkle Ponies when I was a kid and this is a way Hasbroken can convince me of buying the Mane 6 over again.  Hair tinsel isn't going to cut it, it's a royal PITA and boring.

Even though they are the main six, if they were released I would buy them in a heartbeat.  They are so pretty and I love sparkle/translucent ponies.

How long have we seen the color/design your own ponies -- and yet we haven't really seen them in stores yet (although they are finally in a brochure). ?

1. I believe these ponies you have are definitely prototypes. I agree with Ren-Ren. Out of the pics we saw, Fluttershy has the old hair colour. Also, we saw Applejack and Rainbow Dash with bangs. Also also, the one pony I have has a date code indicating that they were made in the first year of G4s, when it was just the first wave of ponies being sold.
2. Will they be released in the near future? Most likely not because these few that appeared are Taobao seemed to have been made in year 1, and have not appeared en masse.
3. Will they be released in the future?  Only time will tell.

Oh yes, also their plastic is very dry feeling with a soft outer texture. They do not feel squishy, rubbery or sticky to the touch. In fact they are pretty rigid, like all of the other ponies. I am curious how other ponies that have had problems with their plastic compare to these.

5. As for numbers of these, we know there are at least:
Fluttershy - 5 or so, maybe a couple more
Rarity - 1
Pinkie - 1
Applejack - 1
Rainbow Dash 1
Twilight - 0

I do really hope they get a release but at the moment I agree largely with Ren Ren and Bright Idea for the reasons mentioned.

1) We have now seen [are seeing in store and in leaflets] ponies which turned up on Taobao after these transparent ponies
2) There was never a Twilight spotted despite the fact she would be perhaps the most obvious candidate for this line
3) The Dash and AJ we saw had bangs which is something Hasbro stopped doing way back at the start of the line
4) The finish on those found varies quite significantly from hair to body in each one
5) The stamp dates on the feet put production very early in the line

The one positive thing I would say is that many of the above points put production very early in the line - well before the concept of Crystal Empire would even have been discussed. So perhaps it was something suppliers were testing to see if it could perhaps be possible in the future and therefore we will see something similar at some point.

I think translucent sparklely ponies would be awesome. Plus with the crystal empire just being aired I think it's a likely possibility. Come on Hasbro! We need some variation!

I even wouldn't mind if they came out with the glitter like your Pinkie Pie, SoSilver,
but the shimmery translucent finish is beautiful
