Ok well to me this is kind of funny

I get the cell phone bill today and its wayyyyyy higher than ever.    I don't have kids, but my parents are on my plan to help them out and make things cheaper. Well, get this, I had to call and break the news to dad that he talked way too much on his phone and went over the minutes and his portion of overage was nearly 100.00 as a result.  LOL What kid has to call a parent about their cell phone minute usage? ROFLOL Dad is in shock and said he would look into it and he is always good about paying...but his portion of the bill this month is going to kick his wallet big time.  Poor guy..wish I had the money to pay it...but I don't.  We share the bill payments to cut costs.
 
Dad just had to have an iphone...I still don't have one and I don't see any point in getting one yet.  I know they are cool and everything but, this is what happens...over usage in minutes, over usage of the data...big bill.
 
Do you think I should ground him for being irresponsible? LOL

Awww. Poor guy. It always sucks when that happens. Probably shouldn't ground him, no....

So a few things, though. You could call your provider and ask if they may be able to apply a one time credit. Or offer to change your plan if they'll rerate the bill as if you had the higher plan (then log on to your account online and change it back... Or keep it if your dad's gonna keep doing this! ) Depending on your provider, there are a few things else you can do, but....

To Funny!  It reminds of that commercial with the couple from India. And the mom is laying on the bed talking on the phone and twirling the cord.  And the son comes freaking out about her using the minutes.

LOL it can happen so easily. If it's a regular thing, you may want to look at a higher plan. We did with our internet because we kept going over, and were paying more than what the next plan up cost (which pretty much doubled our useage)

i immediately thought of that commercial too! lol the first time i saw that, i looked at my dad and he turned beet red cause he did the exact same thing when he first got his cell phone on my plan lol

Wow.. you may want to look into getting an unlimited plan? That's what I have (on a family/shared plan) and our payments are the same every month, and not even $100

We never found any plan that was unlimited that we wouldn't pay through the nose in fees to change over..dad is picky..so he is the only one right now with an I phone. He just managed to upgrade the plan we have and then have them fix it to where it started before this last billing period so now we have a credit. I dont' know how he does these things. My father is the only one I know of in the world that can get out of paying a bill.
