Pony Corral / Re: Any resources for smoothing out color-change G1 hair?
« on: January 26, 2019, 07:49:49 PM »
Does anyone know if the heat will de-activate the color-changing ability of the hair?
This is another worry of mine -- both my current UV hair ponies change very well still, and I want to keep it that way! I think I may compromise and just curl Seaflower's hair in hopes to mitigate the frizziness.

I use heat.  Never melted anything!
Even UV color change hair?

Some people have reported success with patience and a very very low heat setting on a curling iron. If you want to avoid heat altogether like you mentioned, I would just curl it to try to hide the frizz. That hair is doomed to be frizzy, it seems.
If she has problems balancing, did you leave her with her legs separated (I'm assuming that is the problem) for a while?
I actually never considered curling it, but it sounds like a beautiful solution! Thank you! <3

I've sadly noticed that a lot of the yellow, white, and color change hair is just doomed to frizz. I had that struggle with TE speedy when I restored her.

As for the legs, I tried wedging some stuff in between them and leaving it for a while to see if I could get it to go back to the way it's meant to be (I have a TE brighteyes in the same pose and it's surprising how bent up Seaflower's legs are in comparison!) but no dice. Her legs, especially the back ones, are too bent inwards.

Hi all,

I recently acquired a less-than-perfect Seaflower with color changing hair. I've managed to smooth and brush out most of it using a good wash and condition, but the color change hair is still a bit frizzy. Any ideas?

Note: heat will sadly not work, as the hair melts easily...

I have also tried dipping her feet in hot water (carefully!!) to get her to balance and stand better, with no luck...

Thanks in advance <3

Off Topic / Re: Anyone taking summer classes?

I'm all done with College but for 3 summers I took classes.  It's cheaper and well I was able to knock out those annoying paper writing classes so I could focus on 3d modeling and other classes.  They definitely seemed harder because the teacher would cram in a whole semester in such a short time.  One class I was forced to take during the summer because it was required and they were not going to teach it anymore, history of animation.  The worst summer class I took was a painting class.  The class started out with 4 students and dwindled to 3.  The guy was a bad teacher to say the least and loved to invade my personal space hovering over my thighs ughh.  He also stopped teaching and did his own thing less than half way through teaching...
oh geez that sounds terrible and I'm so sorry you had to experience that. :(
The only issue I'm having so far is I have some group work and my classmates are not doing their part. Like I have to respond to their responses to a question but there are no responses for me to respond to.  :whoa:

I'm taking summer classes this term.  Only two classes, but they will be time consuming, and both are studio classes. I have Advanced Quadruped Animation and Animal Drawing.  I will also be working on my animated short over the summer so I can have more time to polish come fall.

Good luck to you this summer!
Oh man, that sounds exciting! I've only ever had one term full of just art classes. It really helped me focus on my art instead of the usual academic studies. I hope you enjoy it ^_^

Thanks for all your advice, everyone~

Maybe rehair her in white and make her streak the purple that's on her cutie mark, or rehair her in something like water nixie blue with a white streak. I think if you worked with the colors on her cutie mark it'd turn out pretty nice. So maybe incorporate the purple or blue in it a bit more?

I got one of my grails last week, but I was too busy with classes to draw anything to celebrate... so I drew this today after getting all my schoolwork done. Mainsail is one of the sunshine ponies that I wanted the most, because I can't resist a good blue-bodied pony. And it has a primary color scheme!!  :lovey:

The large one is at print resolution (under a spoiler, it's 1050x1050), and the small is at web. The larger version is also up on my deviantart, here.

Pony Corral / Re: What is your weirdest pony incident?

I cleaned inside Wavebreaker and found a huge glob of transparent plastic inside her head cavity the same colour as ear wax  I pulled it out, think I've still got it somewhere it was very strange. Someone tell me it was meant to be in there

It sounds like a chunk of glue meant to hold the weights in place. You can read a little more about that here. :)

On that note, I once found a little piece of pink rubber inside a Teeny Tiny pony, I think it was Tootsie. She was from the first lot of G1s I ever owned, and at first I thought it was a piece of Nerds candy. I have no idea what it was doing there.

And then there's my otherwise mint Hula Hula with a red-marker beard!

Thanks for these links! Since she is never going near water again I shall hang onto it still but not worry about replacing it for now  :)

I also found a tail hole sized bit of pink plastic inside my Pinwheel the other day from where her tail-hole was made. Not exactly weird but still.
I found a tail hole sized plastic chunk too! It was inside my TE Speedy when I restored her. It fell out during a rinse, so I picked it up and popped it right back where it had been cut to make sure it was really her tail hole plastic... and then had a good laugh.

Also... I recently acquired a Majesty with either a marker or cancer spot on her NDS cheek, and it totally looks like a beauty mark. It's cute!

Otherwise, nothing too out of the ordinary has happened to me buying ponies.

I'm working on a summer internship. Four days of my week I work for free haha! Second semester I will be taking an intro to psychology class at night twice a week. This is my second go around at college. I already have my bachelors. I took summer classes one time on campus while working on my bachelors. It was awful xD I took biology,  biology lab, and chemistry. Horrible life decision! It did make that particular school year a bit easier though :)
I've been dreading summer classes D: I'm glad though, because now I won't feel bad if I fail to get a summer job this year... cause I'm busy haha

I'm going to be a senior in college next year, and I have to tackle my senior thesis (huge art show), required volunteer work at schools, a Teacher assistant's position, and master's of education courses next year... and there's probably more than that... I can't remember all of it! x_x

So I'm taking three online summer courses so that my final year in college goes a bit more smoothly, and I have more time to dedicate to my senior thesis and all that other stuff I gotta do to graduate.

So far... the work has been grueling. Teachers in summer classes KNOW that they're the only class you're enrolled in, so they assign like crazy!! But unfortunately for me, I'm in three at once @_@;

Have any of you taken summer classes or are enrolled in them now? If so, how is it / did it go?
