Pony Corral / Re: G3 Large laying plush - how many?
« on: April 24, 2018, 06:09:57 PM »
Oh gosh I remember those pajama cases but only just barely. I think you're right that they're French, though I saw a listing for one on Ebay from the UK just now.

The lack of Minty makes me a bit sour, tbh. In Canada we didn't get the standing plushes, so we didn't get any large Minty plushes and I would've liked one. That being said I do have a Toola-Roola pillow plush if you're looking for one.

I have a selection of various G3 plushes with the fabric hair, and I would say your Shenanigans there is very likely not a prize plush, imo. The fabric of her body is of a higher calibre than the G3 plushes I've seen at fairs (always knock-offs) or the smaller ones I have that were likely from a UFO catcher (Are the western ones called crane games? claw machines? the ones full of stuffed animals you need to try and grab with a mechanical arm thing). It's the same material as my two pillow girls (I also have Sweetsong but she's staying with me for now) and also every other G3 plush I have that I don't suspect of being a UFO toy. If you'd like some pictures of the fabric-haired ones I could take some.

Also wow do I like that fabric hair more than the long-pile faux fur. Shenanigans is so precious!

For dirt/marks/stains that have settled into the vinyl a bit, a porous cream cleanser like Vim sometimes helps more than a magic eraser would. Best to keep it away from paint, though. In my experience it takes a lot of scrubbing using it to get paint to lift, but better safe than sorry.

The glue on Lightheart's tail is because there is supposed to be a plastic ring around it at the base against her butt. If memory serves it was to keep her tail against the post inside it so it can wag or something when you move her head? Haven't had mine out in awhile so I'm not sure exactly what the motion was supposed to be. It should be fine to take the glue out, but you might want to replace the ring with something if you want her to move properly.

I'm not sure if it's safe to iron the G2 McDonalds ponies. If I can find one of my extra ones I don't mind using them as a test subject, though, and coming back with my findings, if no one else has presented an answer by then haha.

There was one of Sunny Daze as well. She might have been given out through the hoof points program? I know they gave one plush out through that and I always thought it was one of these, as I can’t imagine them trying to do it with the large standing ones.

Actually I feel like I might have seen one of Twinkle Twirl in the shops as a child as well but I’m prettyyy sure that was never actually something they made haha.

It’s weird that they never made Minty! (As far as I know)

Oh my, I totally understand; that’s a big purchase! I’d be happy to draw for you when you’re feeling more financially stable, though! Haha. I’m not always on the arena but if you want to contact me in future I’m on Instagram and Tumblr~ (Email is okay, too).

I'm hoping you meant expressive, PKW, haha! Thanks! ^^ Thank you too Coonhound!

Hi Lockette~ I think we officially follow each other around on like every conceivable social media now lol. Nice to see you here, too! I'm glad you like the punnies! ^^

Oh my goodness I had no idea you could sun-fade a so-soft pony! Truly is one of my favourite ponies, and I have a couple, but they are always so miserably yellow! (I don't think I've ever seen a so-soft in person that isn't, actually). I would love to try this one one of mine!

@NightgliderSA would you post progress pics for us as you go?

Thanks everyone~! I’m so glad you like them! ^^

The colouring of the bunnies is the same colours as Takara's Furry Families bunny set (tiny bunny figures probably about the same scale that came with a little house to live in), but those bunnies are anthropomorphic! But maybe it could be something else put out by Takara or a knock-off of their toys? I'm not sure how common those specific colours were for 90s toys.

Pony Corral / Re: A Question about Snuzzle
« on: April 20, 2018, 02:31:40 PM »
I would say it's normal~ My Snuzzle is just the same and she's definitely a regular Snuzzle as I am in Canada and there's just no way there'd be an odd nirvana Snuzzle here without someone ordering her in (I do think we got some of the UK ponies, but I'm very sure we didn't get any unusual variants).

Lately I have been doing some "Punny" commissions in various parts of the internet. Punny is how I call my own way of drawing ponies, as they remind me just as much of bunnies as they do ponies!

Here are some recent commissions (sorry for the JPEGs, I only provide high-res PNGs to the client):

I charge $5 USD for a single punny, $10 for couples, or $3 for just a sketch, if anyone is interested~ Light shading is free, simple backgrounds are an extra $1 as well as complex accessories or character designs.

Background fees can also be used to get a phone wallpaper instead!

I'd also be open to art trades with anyone who does similarly polished work! Doesn't have to be digital and you don't have to be able to/want to draw ponies; other animals or humans would also be fine!

Prices are in CAD not USD and do not include shipping. I am open to offers, deals on multiple purchases, and even trades! I have a trades list here (please note I am not looking to trade for other ponies and I am a bit fussy as I need money more than toys right now).

Hi pony friends! I'm sure none of you know me--I've never been very active here--but I need to sell off some of my stuff and I thought it might be worth putting the word out here as I'd love everything to end up with other collectors.

Right now I've been putting things up on a side-Instagram dedicated to toy selling, so if anyone wanted to check that out it's @childhoodhaven. Now that we can't use photobucket I'm hoping it will be within the rules to link to the images there? Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

For the G1 crowd, I am taking offers on my very nice Whitecap seapony. She is lovely without the usual age spots she is so prone to and still has her original weight and the glue holding it in.

Mostly though I am clearing out my G4 things! I am slowly changing my toy room over to a 1950s-1970s aesthetic and they are far too new. Almost everything I have is MIP (Canadian packaging).

The highlights (all MIP) are:
Blossomforth (no DVD version) $100
Plumsweet $100
Diamond Rose $90
Honeybuzz $75
Snowcatcher $50
Sunny Rays $40
Twinkleshine $40

But I have lots of other pony things too and I am sorting out more things all the time. If you see anything on my Instagram account or have anything in particular you're looking for please feel free to contact me about it here! I will be keeping a close eye on my messages ^^

Thanks for looking! <3

Price Check Archives / Re: Price Check on G1 Seaponies?

Thanks again everyone! <3

I ended up giving her the ponies other than Whitecap because she brought me some very thoughtful presents, aha. But I was glad to have an idea of their value! I'll probably try to put Whitecap here on the Arena? I've never sold anything here before but I'd like to keep her in the community ideally, so I am very happy to have all of your advice as to what price might be good for her! It's hard to believe such a tiny pony could be worth so much!

I do a lot of art in SAI and I'd be happy to help if you need advice with something specific within the software. I'm actually a digital native when it comes to drawing, so I don't have too much advice for adapting, but I will say that really learning your software makes a huge difference in how easy it is to draw. These days it's pretty easy to find tutorials and guides breaking down all of a softwares features! The most important thing though is definitely your stabilizer setting. In SAI it's up on the top bar on the same panel as the undo, redo and zoom and rotation buttons. S7 is the highest which means it "corrects" your lines the most. I would start there and work down as you get the hang of how the tablet registers your motions and learn to adapt. The goal is never to work down to nothing, though! Stabilizer is a necessary part of interpreting digital motions. I've been drawing digitally for years and I never set my stabilizer lower than S3 aha.

I actually think tracing is a pretty good place to start to learn how you need to move to make curves go x way and so on. That's where I started as well, even though I had very little traditional drawing experience aha. Never hurts to do sketchy stuff either, though, or even just practice handwriting! Handwriting is actually a great place to start because for most people you're already used to doing it and it doesn't have that same feeling of getting it "wrong" as you get when you go to draw a creature or an object or something and it doesn't look like how you thought it would in your head.

Also a good rule of thumb is the quicker the motions your making, the lower the number you need on the stabilizer, and also the opposite that if you are moving slow you really need the stabilizer turned up high!

Thanks for the help you two!

As far as I can tell Whitecap really does have no marks, but she's definitely ivory and not white. I'd say she's about two shades darker than white? Undeniably ivory, but not quite cream. Unfortunately it's much too dark here to take a good picture of her just now! She might go paler if she had her insides scrubbed out because I can see signs that she's a bit rusty inside but her head is still glued and I knew she was the most valuable one so I've never been keen to mess with her.

I've never faded a mark off a pony (they don't bother me) so I wouldn't know what to do with High Tide, but her hair is definitely more white than pink. There's only just enough colour left in it to tell it was pink at some point.

I remembered them both as being worth around $50 (American) dollars without their shells if the condition isn't too bad. Would that be about right?
