Thanks everyone! \(^0^)/

Super cool! I knit a ton. I would never wear one of these and neither would my kids, lol, but maybe I can use the pattern on a baby blanket or something.
Omg a baby blanket would be so perfect!!! I hadn't even thought of it!

Thanks so much for sharing them! Suddenly I feel the urge to learn how to knit...
You should give it a shot! It's easier than it looks!

Eee, I am glad everyone else is just as pleased as I am! ^^ The scans turned out to be too big to e-mail (I should've predicted that really but I am silly and forget these things) so everyone who asked for a copy so far has gotten an e-mail with a download link instead, whoops!

That being said I figured it wouldn't hurt to post it here, either, so here is where you can download the patterns (I'll edit it into the first post, too).

I can only knit at a very basic level myself, so I'm hoping someone will knit one and post their own brag with pictures! I do have relatives that knit better though so I am going to try to learn to make this sweater just the same aha.

I've been after any of the My Little Pony craft patterns for ages, and I finally found this one at the thrift store today for I think all of $0.25 CAD aha (I was so excited I didn't even check, whoops!). The art really is so beautiful! The patterns are pretty cute, too.

I've seen people selling scans of this pattern, but I've not seen them up for free anywhere in the pony community, so if anyone would like scans please feel free to send me your e-mail and I will provide some for you! I'll also probably be putting them up on my scan blog I never actually use so if anyone knows of a good place I could put a link to that when I do so where people could easily find it please let me know that too aha (I'm also happy to donate scans for pony websites if anyone has one!).

Feel free to spread them around as you see fit. The only pony area I hang out in is here so I don't have much reach to get them out to people who might want them!

I could not be more thrilled with the job she did on my space pony girl <3 I recommend everyone get a Lockette drawing for their pony room ;P

I also use Pantene and have great results with it. Other shampoo doesn't seem to make the hair quite as soft and silky, though I've not tried baby shampoo specifically.

I've noticed. I don't collect G4 anymore but my friend does and she showed me the hair on her new ones and complained about it (justifiably, ofc). It was nothing like the hair on my G4s, which are all earlier releases. It's quite disappointing! We tried to straight-iron one of hers (and also used lots of conditioner on it) and it still didn't really solve the problem. It's not nearly so nice as it used to be!

Also it seemed to be a little more prone to melting? So I'm not sure I'd actually recommend straight ironing it.

You actually can sand the horn off some ponies. I have a G1 Sparkler whose horn was bitten off by a child so I sanded it down just about flat (I stopped because I didn't want to start scratching her face). The vinyl was pretty thin at that point, but by no means a hole. You can still kinda tell it was a horn at one point, though. I feel like I probably could sand it flat and still have a little bit of vinyl left if I didn't mind the sandpaper on her face. I was thinking of puncturing a hole and adding a plastic gem like the Princess Brush & Grow ponies anyway, though.

I have a religious grandmother who saw fit to tell my unicorn-obsessed six or seven year old self that unicorns worked for the devil, but thankfully my toys were unscathed since my mother was less than pleased with this.

Oh my god I need that Rainbow Curl ponies puzzle oh my goodness that's amazing. All those ones with the airbrushed pictures are also so lovely!!!

As for puzzles not yet mentioned, there's one of Paradise Estate with the seaponies hanging out in the pool (I think several other ponies are also in the image and maybe even Megan or Molly?), and one of the sweetheart sister ponies carrying banners. Those two I remember from childhood, but no longer have. They'd be a Canadian release, which likely means America as well and possibly the UK. They're in the flat-coloured style with the black lineart.

At the moment I have two in my possession. One with Glory and Baby Glory in a meadow (pretty sure that's one of the earliest puzzles?) and one I hadn't seen before till I found it of a couple of the ponies (Tootsie, Peachy... Sparkler, maybe?) hanging out with--I am pretty sure--the purple version of the Pretty Parlour (was there even a purple version in G1?). I'll have to grab some pics and come back.

Pony Corral / Re: Avon-exclusive “rotting pink” G3s. Collectible?
« on: April 28, 2018, 12:06:35 PM »
Well I wasn’t expecting she’d be valuable just more like people might want that particular version as a novelty. But I’m glad to know I won’t be doing any major disservice to the collecting community if I accidentally cause her pink to come out. Thanks everyone! I might try to rehair her then as I do like her quite a lot ^^

I was under the impression that the other releases probably had the usual pony hair, hence wondering if the Avon ones in particular were collectible just because of their tendency to degrade, but I could be wrong. I think it would be easy to tell just by comparing a given Jazz Matazz to a normal pony as the hair on the Avon ones really doesn’t look or feel like usual pony hair (it’s not even a subtle difference it’s quite apparently different from usual ponies even at a glance and even when it was brand new. It’s quite crisp and rather strawlike and dull) but I only have the one Jazz Matazz so I’m no help there.

Actually I can think of one other normal release who has similar hair texture to the Avon ponies; the “bonus” pony Tea Lily that came with one of the Dress-Up Daywear sets. It might just be mine in particular, though, (she has some fairly major factory flaws) as the other “bonus” ponies I have are totally normal texture, but her hair is sooooo crunchy.

Pony Corral / Avon-exclusive “rotting pink” G3s. Collectible?
« on: April 28, 2018, 01:52:46 AM »
Hi pony friends!
A friend of mine came to visit me today and was telling me about a unique G3 phenomenon, “rotting pink” hair. Apparently it is exclusive to the Avon releases of two ponies, Jazz Matazz and Tea Lily. A different kind of hair was used in the Avon ponies (presumably to cut costs), and apparently just the red-pink colour in these two ponies ages to be so brittle it disentegrates when touched? I thought that was kind of crazy as I have an Avon Jazz Matazz I bought from the catalogue myself and she looks lovely, so I was shocked when I lightly touched her tail and little shards of hair came off on my hand!

I would imagine there’s nothing that can be done to reverse this (which is a shame as I do like my Jazz Matazz she’s a favourite G3 for me), which leads me to my question: are the Avon versions of these ponies considered to be collectible because of this? Or just an inferior version to the other releases? If she’s something someone would like to have for their herd I’d want to rehome her ASAP before I could accidentally break all the pink out of her hair, as she still looks new for now.

Pony Corral / Re: Getting inside a Sweet Talkin Pony?

I've had one open before to change the batteries, which wasn't very difficult since they are intended for that. However the electronics were frail and broken inside and repairing that was... strenuous XD. My father was doing it because he understands electronics better than I do (he used to build computers) and he had a horrible time at it. It's a very small space to work in, I think was the problem, and also because of the age the metal is frail to work with or attach to. We never got as far as taking the electronics out of the pony, though. I think that would be quite a task with how integrated they are and the fact that they shouldn't get wet!

Pony Corral / Re: some questions about restoration

Okay so I dug out my Lightheart. The ring sits over the post coming out of her bum there low enough that the nub sticks out past it. The ring spins freely, so the glue is not related to the ring I would expect. I took the ring off mine just to check and while she does have some traces of glue (usually hidden by the ring) they are too low to have anything to do with gluing the ring on, so it must just be part of how her tail is rooted to accommodate the hard plastic body.

The motion she is supposed to have is you can push her head down and it will "lock" and then you can push down on her tail and her head springs back up. This works just fine without the ring on the peg so I guess the ring was just to disguise the peg by making it look like a hair ornament? It just sits on/around the peg loosely (the point of the hearts is facing towards her bum).

The hair does go through the ring, so you will need to use a thread or other small string to pull the hair through the ring if you want to put it back on.
