I'd noticed the site hadn't updated in a while, and a few days ago I discovered this article. What a tremendous loss. Janice's dedication was truly incredible, and it's so sad that she passed away at such a relatively young age.

Yesterday afternoon I decided, more or less on a whim, to go to an antique mall with my dad. I haven’t done any sort of secondhand shopping since early spring when the outbreak started amping up here, and I wanted to cram in something fun to show for the 3-day weekend. We ended up going to an antique mall that I’d been driving past for years and wanting to visit, but it’s on a side of town I’m not on frequently so whenever I passed it I tended to be on my way to something else. It was good to finally go - it’s enormous!

We arrived about 30 minutes before closing time so we only covered the perimeter (we’re definitely going back much earlier in the day before too long), but immediately after walking in I found a display case full of old toys about 20 feet from the entrance, including a Scrumptious. She was $16 and rather yellowed, with numerous stains and patches of dirt, so I initially put her back, but as I walked the rest of the mall I couldn’t stop thinking about her. She has no flaws aside from being very dirty, her flocking is the thickest and plushest of any So Soft I’ve ever held in my hands (she’s more discolored than the Fifi I found at the flea market and dirtier than the Ribbon I found in a thrift store, but her flocking is easily twice as thick), and I don’t see Scrumptious come up for sale as often as some from her set. In the end my dad bought her for me (thanks dad), and even though she may have been a bit overpriced, I’m very happy with her 

Now to figure out how to clean her flocking without ruining it. I’ll post before and after pictures, hopefully there’ll be a dramatic improvement! Oh, and there were also some G3’s at the mall, but they were overpriced so I left them. Shame, because there was a pretty Beachcomber, but I’m not paying $6 for a common G3.

Are these worth anything? The doll (Meghan?) is missing one shoe but has underwear.

To those of you who don’t know what HQG1C is:
Do you like G1s?
Do you wish Hasbro was still making new G1 characters today?
Do you want certain sets/concepts that were never produced?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you should check out HQG1C, or High Quality G1 Customs. As the name implies, they mass-produce custom G1 ponies, including entirely original characters, G1 characters who never made it into toy form (like Pretty Bow and the other 4 Pretty Mane ponies), and blank ponies that can be easily customized. They’ve also made some convention/meetup exclusives, and even experimented with existing molds to make new molds. Sounds cool, right?

Well, there’s a problem: the factory they use can only produce ponies in batches of 1000, and people aren’t buying that many, leaving tons of old stock left over. Until this old stock is bought, HQG1C is in a pickle, and can’t produce as many cool new ponies. So if you think the project sounds cool, please check it out and consider buying some ponies or spreading the word!

To those of you who are familiar with HQG1C: this comes from seeing the video regarding HQG1C’s future, which made me very sad. I don’t know what else I can do to support them except try and get the word out. I feel like HQG1C lacks advertising, and I sure don’t know how to do that, so maybe y’all do. I think spreading the word on Instagram, or Tumblr, or wherever there are collectors who may not have heard of HQG1C, might help, but I’m terrible at marketing, so I really don’t know. Any ideas?

I just. I really want the other 2 Glitter Island ponies. And the other 3 Farmer Boys, and the Ice Cream Social set. I’m so sad to think that they may never make it into production. I’d fund the project myself if I weren’t dead broke.

It’s finally not miserably hot outside, so I figured I’d get a few trips to the flea market in before the semester ends.

Sweetie Belle is the last of the 3 core pose/decorator winter G3s I needed (just found Minty a few months ago), so I was particularly excited to find her. I like to think each of them represents a different winter month/holiday - Minty is December/Christmas, Sweetie Belle is New Years/January, and Pinkie Pie is Valentines/February. We’ve never gotten an official New Years horse, have we? We should get one. Lots of glitter, maybe a firework symbol. Anyway, I have to wait til I get home to do their hair.

Lots of new LPS! The petriplet puppy was one I used to own and lost at some point, so I’m eager to reunite her with her brothers at last.

And most excitingly, I went to an antique mall I’d never visited before on a whim, and found this guy tucked away in a corner:

He was less than $18! I know he’s not particularly rare or valuable, but I’m still thrilled to pieces to own him. I’ll likely debox him since his box has seen better days, but I’ll keep the packaging/certificate of authenticity that looks like it was made in MS Word.

Anyone else collect these? I was only a handful away from completing wave 1 when they stopped showing up in stores, and I haven’t seen wave 2 anywhere yet. Any idea where to buy them?

I know the whole appeal of this particular variant is kind of that her hair color is so unique, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Are there any ponies with the same/similar hair colors? I got one at last year's pony fair and while she is lovely, she's missing her tail. I was thinking maybe take Sunlight's tail and dye it ever so slightly blue?

Alternatively, if anyone has a loose silver Greek Bluebell tail available, hit me up.
