I just hate the fact that they removed the magnets I never understood why they removed them!! There were safety scares regarding magnets around that time, most notably with kids swallowing the magnets from Magnetix toys. It was also rumored around 2008 that a magnet-hoofed pony disrupted somebody's pacemaker, although apparently that's since been debunked? Of course, it could have just been a cost-cutting thing coincidental with the safety scares. But I know that LEGO changed to using permanently-fitted and encased magnets on their train couplings at that time because of the safety scares (even though LEGO magnets are probably too low-strength to be a problem), so Hasbro wouldn't have been the only toy company reacting.

Meant to post in this months and months ago, hope it's alright that I'm digging it up.
I'm less bothered by the plastic than I am by G5 perpetuating G4's tiny snouts. Was hoping for a return to horsier heads instead of just an extension/derivation of the G4 style.
Boy ponies... I like 'em, wish brushable ones were more common (G4 leaned way too much into the stupid smegging blind bags and not enough into variety in the brushables), and I hope Basic Fun sees their way towards reissuing the G1 boys. And possibly doing unicorn and pegasus stallions as well.
Thus far I own Steamer from G1, and Playful Ponies-size Shining Armor and Big Mac from G4.

The one with the ribbon in her hair. I didn't properly notice the wings on the skating one til now.

hahaha yeah. I was lucky enough that the hair was not matted at the ends like usual.

I don't own any yet, sad to say, but I went with Nova. She looks to be blue-on-blue done well.

Aw, that's sad to hear. I hope they went to good homes. Let's see... * Several accessories for the Show Stable (trophies, ribbons, shelves, flags, troughs, fences, the door I was missing...). Now I'm basically just missing one flag, one prize ribbon, and the jumps. * A two-pony lot containing Peach Blossom and Forget-Me-Not (already had the latter, but it was the cheapest listing for Peach Blossom and I wanted to stop borrowing the one I'd bought for my mom) * Nova, the Celestial Pony Not an especially big year, but it was nice to get the Show Stable stuff. And Nova is very pretty.

My opinion on G5 is that 1. There's good ideas but Hasbro needs to tweak the story so that it's own universe instead of clinging to FiM to the detriment of both, and 2. The toys look pretty and fun, but it seems like the retailers are lukewarm on them; so often when I've gone to Target... not only are they not in stock, there isn't even a space reserved for them. I might buy some G5 ponies at some point, should I find them, but I don't consider it a high priority rn (partly because of my issues with the story). I do make sure to give a look every time I hit Target though.

Meant to post this on New Year's Eve, but I crashed before I got around to it and have been procrastinating it since. So, first up is a super-belated brag. Got these girls in April (IIRC) of last year" visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI sought to get my own Peach Blossom so that I could stop borrowing the one I got for my mom in 2012. And the cheapest listing wound up being an auction for a lot that also had Forget-Me-Not in it. I already had Forget-Me-Not, and I have yet to decide what to do with the extra. Next up is Nova, who's only belated because I didn't post this on the 31st like I originally meant to: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginBought her on Christmas Day with funds from an eBay gift card, and she arrived the 30th. I want the whole set, but she's the one I wanted most because I really like blue, and I found a good deal on her. Very happy to have her, and the box is super-cool.
