Why oh why.... it's like every time I feel like the release of Sparkler is close, something happens. She's like the calamity pony. lol

I'm so glad DV survived through the archives!!! I kind of miss having it float around. I prefer the original site when Kim Shriner used the pictures from backcards and catalogues instead of the real photos, and I remembered having a scanner that could scan out the ponies was a huge rage. I had one but all it scanned out were black shadows. Then we started to have a digital camera - WOoooOOoooo. lol

I guess the whole backstory to these two babies are still inconclusive huh? I've also remembered other names being tossed around like white baby being called Lovebeam, Heartbeam, Heartbow ...etc. Purple baby was pretty much standard Cupid, although I seem to recall someone calling the two "Bow" & "Arrow", which ....kind of makes sense? Even though it was all speculation, it was kind of fun.

It looks like some hybrid to go along with releasing what looks like Lemon Drop & Brandy on the box. I'll be buying the playset, but not keeping the structure.

It comes to something when the thing that people are getting excited about for G4 are still ponies that have been released before, but either not so much in a particular colour or not so much compared to M6. Real excitement would be something new, but no. In G4, real excitement is a properly coloured Luna and a second version of Minty ;) (In case it isn't clear, it's Hasbro I'm criticising, not the fans waiting for these releases).

I agree with the probables for a next release. I feel like almost all the gaps in my childhood have been filled by Basic Fun so far. Just the 2nd wave of unicorn and pegasus ponies and the baby unicorn and pegasus ponies really left among the ponies written about here but not sold. If we get those I don't need to get to year 5. I love a lot of ponies the US had that we didn't, but the ones I want to see as retros are the ones that were in the stories I read as a kid, but not in the stores to buy. Thus far they're meeting that expectation. So long as Brexit doesn't get in the way.

I would like a Powder and a a Sparkler <3. That would probably make me content.

And if the Groom & Style set happens, I won't turn down another Cherries J.

I'm holding out for Powder & Sparkler too! For some reason, I have really bad luck with Powder. Either symbols have problems or I end up with a really nice one to have head and body discolouration. As for Sparkler, there is always some flaw with her no matter how close to excellent condition she is.

Personally I feel like the Unicorn & Pegasus Wave 1 set is a must-have, especially for UK collectors, since the set was not released there? While Basic Fun kept the poses the same as the 80s, the way they designed the eyes on the wonky Moondancer pose definitely is a HUGE quality to life change that breathed new life on the pose for me. They made the eyes bigger so it doesn't look like the display side eye is sliding off the face :P I kind of wished they changed the pose a little, especially the congealed butt that looks like a turkey leg. lol  My favourite has to be Twilight. She looks a truer to her cartoon depiction like a brighter shade of pink, opposed to the darker strawberry, and the symbol is pinkish glitter rather than dark purple.

I look forward to the second set of Rainbow Ponies the most since I am still missing US Confetti & Trickle. I can never have too many Starflowers because I love light blue ponies. Hopefully these won't rust like the 80s ones do.

@Taffeta - DV was fun while it lasted. It was mostly nostalgic value to me. It was the first and only resource in 1995/6 when I first got on the internet, and while it didn't quite keep up with some information, it was pretty much the backbone of MLP collecting. For a time, the info on some new discovered pony would appear there, because people saw the site as some sort of an authority and everyone emailed Kim Shriner. I wonder how she is now, oh well!

I see that Strawberry Reef listed them as Purple/White Valentine Pony, no twins, so you can safely assume the "twins" part is arguable. Even if they were both available on the same year, but were not offered together as a set but rather as an option because it's too boring for a company to offer only 1 baby pony (lol), then they can hardly be called sisters or even twins, so I presume the twins part is an assumption imposed from us collectors. At any rate, I guess it is whatever floats your boat, but I'll be interested if there are additional promo materials to prove for sure that they were intended to be twins or even siblings. DNA test perhaps? ^.^'

Ok interesting quick question! I was chatting with Clipper about these ponies, and I'm old kid on the block for pony collecting. I've been around for a long time. I've always known these two as the Valentine's Day Twins ponies, probably courtesy to Dream Valley. However, Clipper had the purple one as a child? He said they were not sold together but were released within a year of each other - how does that work out for being twins??? Someone please solve the mystery!

The baby comes in a mail box partitioned into sections, and baby was placed in the top right hand corner. Packed together in the package were note books and stickers and so on? (Clipper please come forward to describe childhood memory lol)

Like Taffeta, I also remembered the name Red Rainbow flying around for white baby. Someone had a name for the purple one but I don't remember, I just call her Cupid because that seems self-evident from the symbol.

We allow 2 name changes per account. You've already had one, so this would be your second and final. Are you ok to stay with rtattles permanently now?

Yes! I am ok with staying as rtattles for forever! I have had that username since the days of Dream Valley. lol My name was goldenclopper since I first joined the Arena and it was flagged as inappropriate during the peak of the Brony movement because ":drama:" became a sexual term.

Can I request to change my username? I like my name but I later realised it's tedious to login with such a long name with a mixture of upper and lower cases. If possible 'll change it to rtattles which I pretty much use for everything. Thank you!

Damn they should have came out earlier. I ran so far to another Nordstrom Rack just to get Glory, the last one I needed. Now I'm tempted to buy another Glory to complete my MIB set. I have one set loose and one set MIB.

I still like to call them NSS because it's straight-forward and easy to remember. If someone ask me about Movie Star ponies, I might actually think they are asking about Firefly or some other pony in one of the cartoons. It may not be an accurate abbrev but the average collecting people "get it".

The Buttons in the pic looks like a regular NSS release and not a deflocked. Deflockeds normally have some wear at the neck because of the concentration of glue that was there, no matter how well done, I don't think they will ever look that clean like this one around the neck. Also, the head on this one looks sealed, a deflocked one, the neck head will need to be removed to get rid of the glue. I'd also like to think in most cases, the SS ponies are made with more intense colours, because of how the colours need to be seen through the fur. There are few exceptions to the rule, but generally seems to be the case. I think Buttons and Posey more or less look about the same SS or NSS. SS Buttons is prone to glue discolouring to brown, so chances are if she was deflocked she'd display flaws like light brown patch, or the whole pony is slightly off colour. Not super obvious but small little things that says they're "off".

I wouldn't say I'd deflock SS Wind Whistler just for pink whistles, because the SS and NSS pony are fundamentally different colours. If you deflock Wind Whistler, she is more like a coral blue underneath, almost to the effect of Sweetpop, and not powder blue like the Euro version. My next target is Heart Throb because she seems a darker pink and no wings for symbol. Recently deflocked a Surprise - love her!

I feel like Dabble's condition plays a big part. A lot of times, her mane fades easily, so people are less willing to pay for a less than perfect pony. Scribbles, on the other hand, maintains her colours better, so long her body doesn't yellow too much, she will be more collectible than Dabble, whose hair plays a big role in her collectible value.

I have contacted Admin to assist you with your query :)
