Title: Baking soda?
Post by: Livia on November 18, 2017, 01:34:02 AM
Because I believe in baking soda as a cure and treatment for various things, has any one tried it on ponies for whitening, pindot, etc?

Not yet - I really should try it next time I do a spa day  :)

I usually reserve it for cleansing my fridge (helps clear fridge smells too!)

It's a good abrasive cleaner so it's good to use for pindot.

But keep away from Twinkle Eyes, symbols, paint, etc.  because it can scratch them all up.  Being abrasive and all...

I think lots of people use it to lift odors from ponies, like cat pee or cigarette smoke.

I use it inside a dirty pony together with vinegar. It will fizz like mad, then let it sit for a while and pour some boiling water in and let it sit for a few minutes longer. Then scrub the pony out like normal. Rinse very very well.

I use this mix rather than the Oxiclean bath - "Vanish" in SA - and I don't soak ponies in it. I just put it inside ponies with rust etc inside them

Wonder if it can get rid of pen marks on ponies?

Yes, that is SA Medley  :) and a gorgeous one at that!

Baking soda doesn't take pen marks out to my knowledge. Perhaps someone else has had success with it, but from what I have read the only thing that seems to work on pen marks is careful sun fading and that is not safe to do on all ponies as some are prone to sun burn.

Which ponies sun burn? As I have the body of Cupcake that has the pen marks on, plus her head has a few on. (Covered most of the head with masking tape apart from the bit with the pen marks on).

I think I tried baking soda on my Sunbeam (not the same name for the baking soda over here in Belgium), I don't think it had any effect, but I heard it is good against germs and fungi so you might disinfect your ponies with it. Anyway, under any circumstances, DO NOT use acne cream. It will have terrible long term effects on your pony's vinyl and is contagious to any pony coming in contact.

Can't find Cupcake on the list, so I guess she's okay to sun fade.

I wouldn't be so sure, Bright Rabbit 1, if she's not mentioned, it means that nobody tried or gave a clear response about her. Cupcake is as likely to be sunfade-ok than not. So, make a try. Expose only a small area, opposite from her DS, to the sun and see the effect, share the result. :p

She ain't got her symbols (when I got her from eBay.uk she had her symbols removed) and she only had this felt tip mark on one of her front leg. Most of it has already going (still some to go) luckily where I live we don't get a lot of sun through the front window (we have blinds on the windows). Have to keep moving her around the room to get the leg in the sun (plus it's fading the brown mark that the metal ring to hold the tail in place).

Think it will take five more suns (if the weather is good) for the pen to completely go from her leg. Think it'll take two or four Suns for the head.
