Tip for taking nice pony photos?

I'm wanting to take a photo of every G1 I have and make up a folder?photo album of them all in order of year etc. I was just wondering how people take such nice photos of their ponies. I really want to be able to take nice photos of my ponies so the photo album would like nice and neat.
 
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I do! and I also keep them in folders I do this with all gens, tho.
I can suggest good lighting and a plain background;

Experiment with macro on vs. off, good lighting, simple background.  Oh and lots of practice.
