Pencil on acrylic?
« on: March 09, 2012, 11:21:53 AM »
Hey, fellow customizers!
I got a new idea for a pony, but it's got a lot of intricate designs planned. Most of the time when I have an intricate design that I could make mistakes on, I draw it on the pony with a pencil first to make sure it will look good and so I can simply trace over it with paint later.
So far, I've only drawn on a pony with pencil that hasn't been painted yet- I was wondering if I'd be able to draw on an FBR'd pony with pencil, if it would show up well enough to see it, and if I needed to erase, would the pencil smudge or not erase at all? (if that happened, it would totally defeat the purpose of the pencil  >_< )
Just wondering if anyone has done this so far and can tell me of their experience! Thanks in advance, all :)

I find drawing on a pony with a FBR actually easier than one without it. The lead in the pencil has something to hold onto. Just be careful as the lead is a little darker on top of paint and its a pain to erase if there is FBR in place. :)

Yup, it goes on much better over paint. Just draw very lightly.

I totally have no qualms with drawing on the paint. I don't even cringe to erase on an FBR.

I find that drawing lightly is great. And I use one of these kneadable artist erasers. They are totally cool. So much gentler to the surface.
