Wow, what a find!  She looks pretty good!  I'm jealous, my local thrift shops never have anything that good

I also was pretty much unaware of the official boy ponies, but like TwistedRiver, I kind of thought of Baby Northstar and Toppy as being masculine.  Which is kind of odd because Baby Northstar is PINK!  XD  And I was definitely surprised to discover that Gusty was meant to be a girl (even though I watched the cartoon...)  But for the most part, it didn't really occur to me that ponies even had genders.

She's very cute, I'm sure the recipient liked her alot!  Nice job painting those tiny intricate symbols, that would try my patience!

They are all so lovely and DETAILED!  I think I like the ones on the outside best, but really they are all quite beautiful.  I like how the sculpted details are not overwhelmingly large, they are just right :)

If you are still looking for someone new-ish, I would be willing to do it (if I am even allowed, as a  new member here).  I have made exactly 3 ponies, only two of which were re-haired.  I know the treachery of removing the head...  >_<  I was just going to start another one and ripped the neck, too.  Clearly I have much to learn as well... let me know if you are interested or want to hold out for an even newbie-er-ish newbie!

Wow, that was your first time with sculpting?  Ivy Vine turned out really nice looking!  And her hair is very cool, its neat to see people use something other than the standard pony hair.

Don't feel bad, my very first two customs were made using Feathermay and Blossomforth ponies, and I've also used at least one Cheerilee with bangs ;)

Is Feathermay rare?  I used her to make my very first custom pony...there were many at the store...I had no idea!

Customs / Re: G4 - best glue to use for head peg
« on: January 31, 2014, 08:46:54 PM »
Amazing, I was going to ask this same exact question!  But here it is already asked :)

I tried superglue for my first pony, and accidentally glued the head permanently, as in, it would not turn any longer :(   That was my bad.

The next time I tried it, it didn't seem to stick very well.  However, that head had been EXCEPTIONALLY well-glued by the factory and was very difficult to remove!  Maybe that was a factor?  I ended up using tacky glue and so far it is holding but I don't have a lot of faith in it.     Has anyone tried anything other than super glue?  Maybe I just need to learn to use it better...

Definitely going to try a G1 pony next!
