Which do you prefer? Big to small or small to big?
« on: April 20, 2024, 08:11:27 AM »
Hello everyone,

I was looking into small g1 pony charms and then I started to wonder. What if those small charms were regular sized g1 ponies? Which then made me think, what if Hasbro had made the ponhy charms into already existing characters? Like a small Applejack, or Firefly?

Of course, in the last scenario, the big ponies would still keep existing.

I would have lto see the small ponies turn into regular sized ones. Especially pearly mini Nightcap.

What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts :)

Cheers,

Luke

There were a few of the early G1 ponies that were also made as jewelry charms.  I've seen Medley, Firefly, Blossom and Twilight.  I don't know if there were others.

I have a couple of the Twilight charms.

If you're talking about the Mommy/Mummy charms, some of those would have made nice full size ponies.

Both! hehehe

But no seriously, for me it's Petite/Mummy Charm -> regular pony all the way. I like small things, but they're a little too tiny for my taste.

Has anyone ever done any regular-sized customs of any of the Petite/Mummy Charm characters?

(and why are they called Mummy Charms anyway? I've always wondered!)

Those are good questions. I hope we find answers :)

I think it's because of the marketing.  In NAmerica, it was "I'm a MLP Mommy!" and "I want to collect them all!"
So we got Mommy Charms.  I would guess they just shifted that to UK terms?

Anyway there are a few ponies in the petite line that would have made cool G1 in full size

Yeah I meant why were they referred to in maternal terms to begin with, not the mommy/mummy thing lol. (I've seen confusion about that before, which has always baffled me... like of course the UK release uses the UK word :silly:)

But yeah I guess it was to go with the MLP Mommy ads, that'd make sense!

Here's the  pamphlet for the Mommy/Mummy charms.  It looks like they were tying in to the the "My Little Pony Mommy" theme.

BOTH!!!!!!!
But since I'm forced to choose, I went small to big. I don't want the G4 "blind bags are more important than brushables" thing, but I do love my minis, & also the idea of resizing Charm Ponies to regular size has been in my head for years!!!

I like ponies of all sizes,  but I prefer my ponies big (and brushable), so I'd really like to see the petites etc made into regular sized ponies :awake:

The UK ads were prolly the same as the US ones or very similar. They used to have a girl singing "I'm a my little pony mommy I love my pony family' then whatever type of pony they were advertising would show - something like that anyways. The kid (it was always a little girl in the 90's) who had the pony herd was called their "mommy" so that's where the name comes from.
