Would it offend anyone if made a "Cutie Mark/Symbol" thread for pre-FIM ponies?

I am very facinated by the way cutie marks are earned in the G4 version; it is a very heart-warming storyline to me, and while I know that it wasn't how things went in pre-G4,

I feel that for the most parts, cutie marks (even back when they were called "Symbols") were often appropriate for the pony, if the pony had some personality or a storyline, so to me, the whole "earn your cutie mark" (or symbol if you prefer) thing could have, in an alternate world, have happened with the other generations.

I would like to do a kind of "what if?" style thread that looks at the earlier gens, and imagines that (with the ponies cutie marks/symbols being what they have always been, and the ponies personality and obvious skills and talents being what they've always been) how would he or she have gained the cutie mark/symbol?

Would it offend anyone if I did this?  I am not trying to make FIM look like the superior generation, It's just something I've been thinking about for a long time, and it would also help with my fanseries project.

This doesn't have to be limited to the show if you are okay with me posting this, and it can be on this page if you don't want me to start a new thread about the same thing.

I don't see why it would offend anyone, it sounds like a fun thread to me. I'd love to see people try and come up with explanations behind some of the more abstract/weird symbols from earlier generations.

Nah, sounds like fun, actually. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Thought it's funny- in my fanfics I ususally write by the time Equestria fell and G1 rolled around, ponies were born with thier cutie marks, and blank flanks like ember were considered 'throwbacks'.

Princess Crystal is said to be able to see into the future and comes with a crystal ball and a wizard hat. Her symbol are two planets; I imagine she figured she could read signs of the future in stars and planets and thus found out she actually could read the future. She's got a crystal ball too because the night sky's not always available
