What is your favorite Disney song? (I don't know if this thread has ever been made before, but if it has, I'm sorry I made another cause I haven't seen it) I am really curious, there are so many classics, but at the same time, Disney has made some pretty good musicals lately. Here's some categories:
Villain Song: Hellfire
Protagonist Song: For the first time in forever
Silly Song: I have a dream ( the one in the pub in Tangled, I guess? I might think of another one later)
Sad Song: God help the outcasts (I love the Hunchback of Notre Dame)
What are your favorites? Feel free to think of some new categories!

My current favorites are the Moana soundtrack!
Classics I love are Aristocats, Pocahontas, and Beauty and the Beast. Also love Tangled, Lion King, Frozen, and Aladdin! I can't possibly pick a favorite :blush:

My fave Disney song at the moment is 'Belle' from Beauty and the Beast - I recently visited France, and the architecture in the villages just reminded me of that sequence, and I couldn't get it out of my head. It doesn't hurt that it's my fave Disney movie!

I love most Disney songs but my top three faves are "Streets of Gold", "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)" and "Let Me Be Good To You" :D Not sure about my favourite villain song.. they're all so good XD I can't choose.

The Great Mouse Detective is such an underrated movie and Rattigan is a great villain!

Hard to pick!
I like a lot. As a child I really loved A Whole New World as I really loved Aladdin. I also knew that Outcast song from Hunchback off by heart and sang it too.
I like the song that Zera (sp?) sings in Lion King 2. That may be my favourite villain song. Don't know what it's called. I have always liked LK2 better than LK (don't kill me!) but there's something really atmospheric about that one. Starts, "I've been exiled, persecuted, left alone with no defence..." I also like Meg's song, but I'm not sure whether she's a villain or a hero, being that she crosses the line. That was a big favourite of mine too, though, from Hercules ("I won't say I'm in love).
I like the Dream song from Tangled as well. It's hilarious :)I find the Mulan "I'll make a man out of you" song even funnier since a friend of mine made an AMV using characters from a fandom I love...;) Mulan is probably my favourite Disney film now.
More pensive songs - Mulan's song - Reflection? I like that.
On the flip, I hate Hakuna Matata. Reason being that for the nine days I had to work in that horrible toy shop years ago, that song was literally on loop the WHOLE time. And nine days of Hakuna Matata is enough to make you crazy...

Right now ive been blasting the Moana soundtrack xD I just LOVE that movie so much omg I CRIED during that whole movie because of how beautiful it was animated and just love the singing talent. Goosebumps every time.
I also love "Part of your World" from Little Mermaid "A whole new world" from Aladdin, "Reflection" from Mulan, the opening song to Lilo and Stitch, and this is kinda Disney(?) but "This what dreams are made of" from the Lizzie McGuire movie. Hilary Duff is my hero! :heart:

ive tried to like it, but it just doesn't compare to The Hunchback of Notre Dame, or any other princess movies IMO. I don't know why I don't like them as much, I love the Polynesian culture, and everything tropical, but the songs didn't feel catchy.

No worries. :) Everyone likes and dislikes different things. Usually I fall in love with a Disney song right away but the first time I tried to listen to "How far Ill go" I couldn't even finish it.
Does anyone else love "For a Momemt" from the Little Mermaid 2 or "Love Will Find a Way" from Lion King 2. I was disappointed when I found out the special edition Lion King CD that included songs from the 3 movies didn't include "Love Will Find a Way"

I'm a huge Disney geek. :D
I've been on a Moana kick lately (I'm a big Lin-Manuel fan,] so that whole soundtrack is pretty high on my list. I'm especially fond of his demo of Shiny. It's quite fun.

Ooh so many faves!
I love most of Tangled - fave villain song being "Mother Knows Best" I love Mother Gothel's OTT theatrical voice.
Sing Sweet Nightingale - although short - is such a pretty melody (Cinderella)
Fixer Upper from Frozen is so different, like it is from some 70s stage production mixed with gospel, I did not like it at first, but it soon became a favourite of mine.
Soundtrack music from The Incredibles reminds me so much of vintage Columbo/James Bond orchestral incidental music, I love the bit when Mr Incredible is flown the the volcanic island and then the plane goes under water, so 60s/70s.
...um that's all I can think of for now! :biggrin:

I don't generally go for musicals but I agree that A Whole New World is good and has that epic feel. I liked Jungle Book especially Louis Prima's performance, but yeah it's racist, meh. Like a lot of Disney back then. 'Raindrops on Roses' from Mary Poppins is a nice lullaby and I enjoyed Alice in Wonderland and Frozen. They have the best of the best in terms of recording artists and you have to appreciate the performances. Fantasia is technically a Disney film so I'll take Ave Maria. But I might see if there is anything on UK netflix, I've not seen Moana.

In terms of scores, I love To Die For... and the Wreck-it Ralph arcade theme. And for full soundtracks, gotta go with The Lion King. And I must say that, despite being a show for preschoolers, The Lion Guard has some wonderful songs and an amazing score. Aladdin is another personal fave.

I have a Disney song collection called something like 50 Years of Disney that has not only the well-known songs but some really obscure ones, some really ridiculous :lol: One I can think of off the top of my head I love because it's so silly -- "Although I Dropped $100,000." It's like a song you'd have heard on the radio in the 1930s, sung in that funny voice radio people used. I play it when I want to annoy my sister :biggrin:
But I love Disney songs and soundtracks. Two of my most favorite songs are "Beauty and the Beast" and "Reflection." So lovely! I've recently grown to like "Go the Distance" as well. I also love the orchestrations in Beauty and the Beast -- gorgeous music. The Lion King also has beautiful instrumentals. And it's so nostalgic to hear other people mentioning the sequel, too. I remember my sister and I learning the words to all the songs in Simba's Pride and running around on all fours pretending to be lions, lol. Of the newer Disney movies, I love "I See The Light" from Tangled and "Let It Go" from Frozen (although unfortunately hearing it so often is ruining the song for me).

I'll always love the original, but the translation back into English is really beautiful and actually more poetic in some places; instead of "Tale as old as time," etc., it's like, "A wonderful story/timidly touching one another/finger to finger./Little by little, little by little/kindness opens love's door." And then, instead of "Ever just the same," etc.: "It's true/happiness can't be hidden./It's plain to see/like a nostalgic song/never-changing through the seasons./Little by little, little by little/kindness opens love's door/kindness opens love's door." I really can't explain how pretty it is :blush: I definitely recommend covers of Disney songs in Japanese and other languages. I had very similar cd's, and they had the music from the start of Disney to the 90's...those early songs were quite funny, my favourite being 'Minnies Yoo Hoo';
