Which was your first complete set?
« on: September 29, 2023, 12:42:58 PM »
Hello everyone,

I was leafing through my g1 unofficial collector's inventory and (according to my notes) my first completed g1 set was the second taf set. In the beginning if my collecting, before I was into g1's, I collected all the wave 9 g4 mlp figures.

This got me thinking, which was your first completed set? Why that set in particular? I would love to hear your stories. All generations are welcome :)

The Rainbow Curl ponies :)

Raincurl is my favorite pony, and I have her from childhood. I found the others, one at a time, in TLC condition and rehaired them all. I had a rehaired Raincurl too. So they are my Rehaired Rainbow Curls :P

Hmmm! :wonder: Good question! I’m such a cherry picker when it comes to collecting, I don’t think I’ve EVER completed a set of anything, whether it comes to ponies, Monster High, or candles (unless it was sold in a set, and even then, I have no qualms about splitting ‘em up).

Me too.  I think the closest I've come is Basic Fun ponies.  If I have a favorite, it tends to be the only one I want.  And if I don't have a favorite the indecision makes me run away.   :P

I think it was the first set of princess ponies.  Serena/Aquamarine was a childhood pony.  I bought Tiffiany/Pearl and the rest of the set were gifts.

Oh my!  That was so long ago.  I can’t remember, but would assume it would have been the early year more common ponies 😆😆😆

I don't think I had ANY complete sets in my younger years, unless maybe the Tootsie & Lickety Split set (I THINK I had all six of those???)
My Mascots (so far): Twisty Tail, G2 Trixiebelle, Starcatcher, Twilight Sparkle. All variants & pictures of these are appreciated. Piccies courtesy of Griffin, Blumiere, Littlebabyribbon, & Starscout

Sundae Best! They're such a cute set. I don't have the complete set anymore, though.

I don't actually remember. Either the Sunshine ponies, the Tales ponies, the Merry Go Rounds or the Brush 'n Grow Ponies. Those were the sets I aimed for. But it's been like 15 to 20 years since then .

The G4 Wave 1 mane 6 singles. I just decided one day that I wanted to get them after seeing them online and remember walking to the store close to me to see if they had them and they did. I remember there was only one Rainbow Dash.
As for my childhood G1s, I only had like 8 ponies total and they were all from different sets except I had 2 Sweetberry ponies. Those were the only ones I wanted a full set of. I kept one of their backyards for quite some time dreaming of them.

 Maybe it was the Romance Ponies or Tropical Ponies set. Both sets are complete.  :)

The Paradise Baby Ponies was my first complete set. :)

To be fair completing sets isn't something I really try to do. Like brightberry typically there's one pony in a set that will catch my eye and the others tend to get ignored / overlooked most of the time.

Mine was the Sundae best ponies. Simply because I had the entire set as a kid :D
As a collector I actually don't remember which set I completed first
