Could it be for the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse? Hasbro was doing special LPS that corresponded to the Zodiac animal for every year after the Ox except for this year. Maybe they decided to use a pony this time around.

I was thinking, pretty much the same thing.  The cut of her "dress" and patterning look like a Chinese dress, I think this would be the reasoning for the pink/red combo.  Though I find the dress being painted on very strange, I still like her, and I think I'd pick her up if she got a normal release.

Maybe each of the mane six would have some traditional clothing-thingie from a different country or something....?  That would actually be kinda cool....

Oh wow! That would be an amazing set! I would love to see a set of ponies set like traditional clothing from other countries. That would be so fun! I've only been to three countries, but wow, just thinking about that. I want it ahah!

My second reaction (and the one that will probably get fakies thrown at me)... Good job Hasbro... you can afford to cover almost a entire pony in red but you can't afford to do symbols on two sides of the ponies? What's wrong with this picture!?

Yeah that is pretty much how I feel... I am assuming that her body is covered in the red because all 4 feet are pink all the way around... unless the finally figured out how to get their machines to do paint all the way around... but still...
