Lol I had no idea what to call this thread and I thought that was a funny nickname that is sort of ending up sticking to this pony, lol! This isn't MLP but one of my ponies on the game PonyIsland. His name is Banana Cabana! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginHe's enjoying the last bit of his summer in a very chill way! It's not entirely done yet, I forgot a bit of shading on certain parts, I'm not overly happy with the hair yet, and I still am going to color/shade the water lightly, but here it is for now! I'll update it when I add those things. The colors aren't exact matches, but it also does look a tad brighter in that photo. (Also, the paper on his hat got a bit messed up, sometimes if you press too hard/go over too much it'll start to fall apart-the more I fixed it the more it fell apart, so I left it as is- using colored pencil) Thanks for looking!

This isn't anything too crazy, but I find it pretty funny, lol. Where I used to keep my laptop in my "pony room," (just where I keep my hobby things for now) every time I would look over I would see the shelves from a very specific angle, which, with how I have all my G1's set up, made Sprinkles' & Hearthrob's faces line up ever so perfectly to where they looked like they melded together into a very wonky pony, lol! My cat has an obsession with little rubber chicken toys. He finally popped the head off the last one (he puts the body between his paws and stretches the head as far as it will stretch with his mouth, then lets it snap back lol) so I got him some new ones! But these ones STINK!
He keeps trying to play with them but I think the strong smell hurts his nose, when he gets his face near them, his eyes get that squinty-cat-look like "oooo bad smell," and he'll just back up and sit there and stare at them.
I washed them in dish soap, hot water, isopropyl alcohol, and then dish soap and hot water again, then left them in the sun/breeze for a bit.
They smell better now but still have enough of a lingering smell stuck in their rubber (it's that really stretchy rubbery silicone stuff) so I stuffed all of them into a plastic tub with a lid and filled it with baking soda & mixed them all in. The kitty likes the baking soda smell.
Before going in, they were about as stinky as maybe, a mildewy pony or something.
When you guys leave really smelly ponies in the baking soda, how long do you usually leave them for? I was thinking maybe a day to three days, but he keeps sitting under the shelf they're on and staring up at the box/trying to stand on his hind legs to reach it, I know he wants to play with them lol.
I suppose it varies on the stink, should I just keep taking them out every so often and checking on the... stinkiness?

I found out recently that MLP Merch now has checklists and wantlists you can make that encompass ALL gens and even a bit of merch and stuff. (Just missing the McD's and Pretty Ponies for actual brushables now as far as I could tell but I asked about that, they said soon)
I've been looking for a site that does this for a while and was pretty stoked to find that out! It's also a good way to easily count how many ponies you have. I was thinking about it too and it's a really cool way to show off who you have in your collection to others, I think, more intricately.
Does anyone else have a checklist for their ponies, too? Doesn't have to be MLP Merch! I'd love to see!

Before this absolute craziness in the world erupted, I just got a new much better paying job, birthday money, and all my ponies back out of storage. (They did time for a year this time!) To celebrate all that I went on a big pony shopping spree and got lots of my grails which I am super excited for. (Other than that I have one pony I bid on a few days ago [G4 Minty] and it looks like I will probably win, but I will be ceasing pony-buying temporarily after then. I am also avoiding thrift stores which sucks.  ) The ponies I got were G1 Barnacle, Dutch Diary/Dagboek (I've been calling her Dagboek, her Dutch name! I like it a lot for her, suits her), Baby Sea Princess, Starglow, and G2 Junior, Crystal, Miss Painter, and Silver Swirl, and G4 Sandbar. They are all (except Sandbar) somewhat dirty/have ratty hair and need baths, I will do that soon! visitors can't see pics , please register or login(they have much more of a yellow tint here possibly because of lighting or the towel I used as a backdrop!) visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThese 3 were some of my life long grails! Has anyone successfully removed the random designs all over the "Pony Mania" ponies? They just COVERED them with them, and in my opinion it looks really bad, and not well thought out or executed. (I don't like all the unnecessary paint jobs on G4s like these "tattoos," stuff around the eyes, or painted clothing.)
The only acetoning I've messed with is with G4s, and was removing the zapcodes off their legs, and successfully removed the eye designs over the eyes of the TaF/Cutie Mark Magic ponies, but even that proved challenging and poor Button Belle has one smudgy eyelash now! >_>
But the Pony Mania ponies seem even harder because they are just COVERED in these designs and have stuff ALL OVER their eyes.
I really, really wanted the whole "Friendship Blossom" collection because it was nearly all new, one off characters, and also the corresponding FS Daring Do, but man I feel like those designs would just be nearly impossible to remove, and it'd almost be more worth it to just completely wipe their faces off (not symbols) because of how hard it'd be to maneuver around the eyes.
Has anyone successfully "lasered off" their "tattoos?" Please show me, if you have! Even if it was the Mane 6 or Princess characters!

What are your collection limitations? Do you even have any? My apologies if this has been discussed to the moon and back! I know there was at least one very old thread about this but I figured I would make a new one! It seems like for every "rule" I put in place though, one pony always skirts it as an exception, lol. These aren't strict guidelines for me, just personal preferences. For example (oh jeez prepare for some rambling! I put the horizontal rules in here cause even the bulletpoints didn't seem to break up the overwhelming WALL of text) - I don't collect .5 gens. They are simply just not allowed in my collection. (I made ONE exception for Potion Nova, because she's a new character and honestly grew on me. And MAYBE one day I'll get Rainbow Dash's Mom from G4.5, she's the only one I even remotely kind of like, and it'd just be to say I have one of every gen.)
- I only collect boys from Reboot G4. I don't like the faces or poses of the girls.
- I also only collect boys from the Funko ponies, because unfortunately they didn't make brushables of most of them. I only have Dr Whooves and Big Mac, though. (Big Mac came later but only the All About version and I didn't like those either, though I did make an exception for Soarin, he's pretty rad. I am just so picky with G4 overall, lol)
- Only brushables get to live with the herd. (Except the aforementioned two Funkos, and two G4 Breezies! They live with the other G4s.) I briefly collected the blindbags too, but they just don't appeal to me. Anything without brushable hair just feels like weird merch to me, imo, honestly even G1 Petites. I do have a few things, like the handful of blindbags, a couple keychains and ornaments, one Playskool mini chibi pony, but they don't live with the herd- They go on top of the pony shelf, where the Randos live. They're their own thing.
- No duplicates. The only exceptions I've made to this are two G3 Mintys, but different versions- One was a gift from another lovely member here, and the other is I have two G4 Dewdrop Dazzles- thrifted both of them, but one is SO crazy sunfaded she looks like a different pony. So that's just her sister, in my mind. Maybe uh, Dazzle Dewdrop? lol. And I do have two different versions of G4 Luna, but one is a Water Cutie so she gets a pass, cause those are awesome.
- I don't really collect customs, and I don't make them (anymore. I made a few several years back.) Nothing against them though, at all! I LOVE looking at other peoples! Maybe someday I'll finally get one! There are so many amazing customs out there. If I did, though, they'd live on the top shelf with the Randos, not the herd. Only because it just wouldn't fit the look or style of the other ponies.
- No G2's with magnets in their noses or "action figure" abilities, with the exception of the ones that only have moving back legs so they can sit, those look okay. I just don't like how clunky it all looks, it wasn't as gracefully pulled off as it was in G1 or G3. I don't like G4s with moving parts, either.
- I don't collect MIB or MOC. If I buy a new pony, I free them immediately! And I actively avoid buying vintage ponies in box still because I don't want to ruin them by taking them out, there are so few left, and I leave those to mint collectors. One exception is my First 50 Coconut Grove, and I know they're essentially worthless, but she has sentimental value, my mother won her for me when I was really young in some contest, and made me keep her in box (she thought she'd be worth tons later on) and got me a second one to free from the plastic box prison.
- All ponies with haircuts or minor markings are allowed! Even missing tails and such. Mostly just ones I find thrifting, and honestly some of their haircuts look really good! I got a G3 Heart Bright with a really nice bob-hairdo the other day and it honestly really suits her. I like to try and fix up marked ponies, but I don't know how to rehair. But no ponies with missing body parts or chewed up body parts are allowed! I just don't have the sculpting skills that some collectors do to fix them up properly, so they'd be eternally wounded/mutilated if they joined my herd, and I don't really like the look of that.
- I don't really collect much merch but I'm not opposed to it. I just don't usually actively seek it out. I have some stuff.
- I keep all my gens separated on the shelves. As a kid I always felt like this was some sort of unfair pony segregation and generation discrimination, and they should all be allowed to mingle and hang out together, lol. But as I got older I decided it just looks better to have all the gens separated. But things like repro G1s and HQG1Cs are allowed with the G1s, since they're nearly indistinguishable, and look good together. (Looking at you, my headcanon brothers Ice Crystal & Dasher!)

If you were in some weird hypothetical situation, and were forced to pick only one generation of pony to collect for the rest of your life, which would it be, and why? Doesn't necessarily have to be your favourite gen, and honestly I'd be super interested to hear responses from those who don't pick their absolute favourite gen! (Like maybe one gen is your favourite, but one PONY is your fave over all, and from another gen, so to keep her you'd pick them? etc.) This includes merch as well! All ponies, art, and merch are now magically poofed into being from the gen you picked.
I collect all of them (aside from .5 gens and EQG) and if I HAD to pick only one, it'd absolutely be G1. They feel the most nostalgic (G3 was my first childhood gen but was given all my aunt's G1s around the same time and grew up with them both! Even the movies and such), and have the most variety and my favourite designs. I love their soft sweetness vs. the other gens boldness and bright colors. (Don't get me wrong I love that too!) All of my absolute favourites are from G1 too. I have a hard time picking my fave gen out of the first 3 but I'd say they are probably the top favourite.
G3 has some REALLY close runner ups too, ponies that make me go "Ahhh, but what about HER..." (Looking at you, Abracadabra and Pumpkin Tart...) when considering gens, but still still sticking with G1 here. (my Ice Crystal and Dutch Diary. @.@)

Hello! I was curious how to clean the Build a Bear ponies properly. I recently found a Luna at the thrift store and was so excited!
She has REALLY ratty hair and her "fur" is a bit matted.
Can I wash her in the washer? Dry her lightly in the dryer? Her wing support things inside her wings are already screwed up so they're floppy and I'm not worried about that. How to go about washing and conditioning her hair like a regular brushable pony? This is a dumbbb question, but... could I put a few drops of conditioner in the washer to help her hair??

Getting my ponies back (AGAIN! Seems like they're in and out of storage like every few years, they were staying at my mother's in Kentucky while I moved back to Idaho, came and got them again) and I know I probably shouldn't keep them in the laundry room because of moisture, however that's reaaally the only place I can keep them at the moment.
It has this vent thing RIGHT next to the washing machine/dryer/water heater that sucks up all the air and blows it outside, but it's also a very old house so it has a concrete floor with a hole in it, in front of the washer, that goes down to a pipe for drainage if the washer leaks. Sometimes soap bubbles come up from it when the washer is running, but that's about it. Once the piping behind the washer leaked, but we got it fixed. There's also a freezer down there but I don't know how much that one matters.
It's a huge room so I can put them pretty far away from the water heater/washing machine/stupid hole in the floor (I hate that stupid thing SO much and trip over it constantly but that's another can of worms) but it still makes me really nervous, I'd be devastated if all of them got ruined, there's like 200+ ponies.
The room never feels muggy or moisturous to me, it's in the basement and the vent seems to do a fairly good job at siphoning out all the moisture, there's no mold in the room or anything.
Still, is this a really bad idea? I've been wracking my brain trying to think of ANYWHERE else to put them but there's really nowhere better. This would be temporary anyway as we're moving out next year.
What if I got like, shelves that have closing glass doors and put moisture absorbing packets in there?

I've wondered all my life but never really thought to actually ask or look it up, and when I tried recently I got nothing.
What is the reason G1s smell the way they do?
I don't honestly know if there's any smell I could ever like more. It's such a very specific, unique smell and I've never smelled anything exactly like it other than authentic G1 ponies. The repros don't smell like anything, either. And it's not like Hasbro scented them or anything. (Except the obviously deliberately scented ones)
No other gens have that smell either. (I guess mine all sort of smell like G1s because I keep them all together and somehow the G1 smell with most mine manages to be so potent/preserved that they can make the other ponies smell like it, too. These were mostly ponies from my/my aunt's childhood collection, most G1s I buy second hand don't have the smell. They are in storage until the first week of February and I am soooo looking forward to opening that box and smelling the smell. Lol.)
I want to think, and always have kind of thought it was just the plastic, but then why don't other toys ever smell like them, or repros,or other gens? Also how does it stick around so long?
I have so many questions about The Pony Smell.
(Also, if we -have- figured out what exactly the smell is, why is it not a perfume yet? :O We need to get someone on this stat! lol)

I saw on FB that Sandbar has been spotted at Target! I'm so excited, he's the only new pony I've been excited for for quite some time! I've actually been considering buying a factory version from China though because those ones have regular hair, and I'm not too sold on his 'do yet. Maybe it will grow on me! I'll be looking for him! I just wish he didn't come with a G3.5 (guh) and a Mane 6 one at that, buuuut that's Hasbro for ya, what can ya do. xD I do love that turtle though. He's also on Ebay and Amazon but pretty pricey right now! If you've been wanting him too, keep yo' eyes peeled!

I mentioned this lot a couple weeks ago in the shoutbox and got requests to make a brag! I got home today after two weeks gone and opened them all day, I'm ecstatic! Here is Pt. 1! (Because they are all still so filthy and I'm too worn out today so they will be getting baths tomorrow. They're all just lined up around my computer right now!) I can't even tell you who I'm the most excited about, I love them all so much! Slugger and Moondancer were also total surprises and not in the listing photos. They are FILTHY filthy ponies, and Quackers is pretty sticky, but I'm going to clean them all up. Couple tail rust ponies and Moondancer could use some sunfading I think. I also don't know what's all over Whizzer, but one side looks like a red pen exploded on her. Hope it comes up easily! >.> ALSO two of these are Brush and Grow ponies and I had no idea, they are my first! I took them out and gasped in awe. Also my first baby merpony, colorswirl, and first sparkle ponies (for any gen!) Also first G1 TAF and little ballerina baby, too. Lots of firsts here! I'm just so ecstatic about ALL of them!! (Although there were some duplicates! Not pictured here are v2.0 of Powder, Glow, Lemondrop, Princess Pearl, Heartthrob (although my original has blue ink stains on one eye so it looks like she got punched in the face), Masquerade without a tail, and flatfoot Blossom! Not sure what I'll do with the dupes but we shall see!) I definitely bought all these ponies knowing they were going to be a project, but that's half the fun! Some of them are in amazing condition though and just have tangled hair and random dirt that will come off with a magic eraser. visitors can't see pics , please register or login(box behind them is the box they came in, keeping it for a bit while I clean them all up, and to lean them on) visitors can't see pics , please register or login(This is my uh, mousepad box. My Draenei also chills next to the SchroderBoxSetup 24/7 as sort of a buddy when I play WoW lmfao. Don't mind her.) So excited to have ZigZag! I have Creamsicle and Kingsly from my aunt's/my own childhood and Zecora from when G4 started, I always wanted ZigZag to kind of tie the two together. He's so much bigger than I expected! The blue one still evades me, but I'm just so freakin happy to even have this one! She was what I was most excited for the whole two weeks I waited to come home to these, but now I just don't know, I love them all! This is a thread to just vent about your pony woes! Could be anything- finding really bad tail rust, buying a pony that turned out to not be what you thought, collection feels too big, finnicky hair ponies, staining, etc. Literally anything! Just things that make you go "siiiigh" and you feel like just getting it out to people who "get it." My biggest pony woe so far is my G2 Princess Golden Light. (This happened a couple months ago) I bought her with Clever Clover and they were in mint condition and I was SO excited to get them! Got them for a great price too, they were from France, I'd wanted them both for quite a while. Although their hair got a bit messed up in their package on the way here, so I went to brush it (very gently, might I add!) and immediately 20 plugs of hair just popped right off of Golden Light. Snapped off at the root, middle of the mane, 10 plugs off each side. The tinsel remained somehow, but all her actual hair came out, and now she has a gianormous bald spot.  Not even sure how it really happened, my only guess is maybe being in a warm mailbox screwed her hair up or something, I have no idea. I still really love her and she is gorgeous, I keep her positioned on the shelf so it's harder to see, but everytime I take her down I just kind of go " siigh" I wish I could've asked the seller about it but it happened once she was already here so I figured there was nothing to be done. What are some pony woes you've had/are having?
