I wouldn't get my hopes up, but I was thinking maybe we would get a head revision down the road. I think the heads look nothing like the movie characters because the toys were probably based off of 2D concept art. They probably had not done the 3D models yet.
Also, before the 2017 G4 redesign, the earth pony heads got a weird update around 2014, maybe even 2013? They actually ended up looking worse than they did before, but it definitely happened. I can't remember exactly what they changed. I think something about the position of the muzzle and I think the eyes might've been slightly altered too. I'm not dragging my Pinkie Pies out to check. 
This completely if you look at G4, there has been a ton of different poses, and head shapes. Brushables, Unicorns, Alicorns, Fashion Styles, Shining Armor, Other Boys, Funko Vinyl, Blind Bags, GOH, etc with several changes to the head designs over the years. Best to wait and at least see a few more designs.

They look very much like a G2 and Guardians of Harmony combination so far. The hair does look thick and possibly better quality. See molded hair as well.

I’m open minded to these I like the CGI! Going to give it a full shot watching the movie. The boys look super good too.

Interesting that they are called POP Vinyls, and not just POP like other are listed as. I wonder if these are indeed the POPs or the Vinyls? Happy to see Funko making more ponies though either way! I wish they would finish Nightmare Moon and Chrysalis, the sparkly glitter versions would have been amazing too..

These are very cute, love how they have hair like the G1 animated ponies. Loving the green haired one the most, the Barbarian is cute too! I wonder if the other collections coming will have 5-6 ponies per set as well! Looking forward to seeing those now.

I like the idea a lot and the symbol redesigns are nice (except rainbow, that looks like a fakie) but they look to much like g3 fakies to me.
