Pink marks on G1 Ponies
« on: Yesterday at 02:39:51 PM »
Hello everyone

I got a beautiful Sweet Clover recently but she has a few pink marks on her body that didn’t come off after normal cleaning.
I read on a restauration page that these pink marks could be highlighter or also fungus! So, how is it possible to tell apart?
And any tips of getting rid of them? I don’t want to sun fade her because of her fading pink hair.

It's actually bacteria. It needs moisture though, so if she's dry and not rusty with no other signs of water damage, it's probably just highlighter.

I think the only way to get rid of it is to sun fade. You can cover her hair with aluminum foil to protect it, put the shiny side towards the hair, dull side out.

Oh, I forgot about regrind. That's a whole 'nother thing and you can't get rid of it.

Are the pink marks lines? Or are they spots?

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and tips!

She doesn’t show any signs of rust or mold and she doesn’t smell like mold or anything like that.

I would love to show photos but I still can’t figure out how

They are spots and ligns, very uneven and on the tips of her hooves and ears. She came from a lot where some of the ponies had also spots and others didn’t. And there was a Sugarberry with the bright red hair in the lot so I first thought it was maybe from her?

Oh and I know these spots can be on pink ponies. I have neon spots on Galaxy and Lady Flutter but these look different. Sweet Clover‘s aren’t round like the spots on the other two.

That sounds like regrind to me, or the result of a child with a marker.
I use Imgur to upload my photos and copy the links, then you use the [img/]http://[/img] tool to create the images.

The marks on Galaxy and Lady Flutter definitely sound like regrind. Sweet Clovers sounds like discoloration, if they are mainly by her hooves and ears. Have you opened her up?
