You're welcome! :D I enjoy being a dolly detective haha yes! She must have done ;) because they really do look identical.

I believe a lot of supermarkets had fashion dolls like this for sale in the 50s & 60s and they often had no markings I think. http://collectdolls.about.com/cs/fiftiesdolls/a/supermarketdoll.htm

I swear I've seen her face before, though.

Perhaps you could take a look through these flickr groups https://www.flickr.com/groups/1372295@N23/ https://www.flickr.com/groups/vintage_hard_plastic_dolls/

Does she look a bit closer to this Deluxe Reading doll (in face not hair etc) except she's too tall? http://www.dollinfo.com/50fash.htm (there's some info here on the similar doll which is called 14R if you scroll down - there were several companies that made these dolls & they look the closest to yours that I could find http://dollreference.com/deluxe_reading_doll.html)

Wish I could be more help. At any rate, she's actually prettier than some of the 'genuine' brand dolls I've seen from the 50s :D

Here's my newest girl, Wednesday, a Love Mission! I'm loving the older girls a lot, lately.

eBay is probably the best bet! (Do you mean the original Pedigree Sindy or the Hasbro Sindys? I'm guessing most people are talking about the Pedigree Sindy doll). A lot pop up from the UK.

Ooh great topic! Loving hearing about everyone else's finds. My best was probably this small lot of vintage Barbie stuff:

Not as impressive as friends who've found Swirl Ponytails but I gasped out loud when I saw Skooter's little face in a plastic bag :D
That is amazing! She looks in decent shape too, considering her age. The clothes look in super shape from the photo as well.

Thank-you! I was so surprised. And she is. Her arms and faced are a little discoloured but she cost me less than $1! And the clothes are great too.

The Dollhouse / Re: Vintage Playmates Doll ID

Hmmm. I had a quick look through Flickr (surprised I didn't get more nudity than I did what with searching 'Playmates' haha) and nothing that looked exactly like yours. The official Playmates site didn't help either. I wonder if she was maybe one of their 'Dolls of All Nations'? Hope you find more info. She's a cutie!

I love Joey's work! I've always wanted one of his Mary Magpie dolls but have never had the money.

Aw, don't feel silly! :) I keep eyeing off the little Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First dolls because they're adorable, even though I know nothing about either franchise!

The Dollhouse / Re: How do you balance different doll collections?
« on: August 10, 2014, 01:56:18 AM »
This is a really interesting thread and I'm going to respond properly, later, but I wanted to make sure I'd remember.

I would say that if you want to be a completist & it makes you happy & doesn't interfere with anything, then go for it. Some people collect really successfully that way and it's very satisfying for them. But if it's overwhelming because you feel like you have to collect a certain way because other people do, or for some other reason, then try to just collect what you love and remember to have fun! :D

As for how I collect, I'll need to be a little more awake to formulate my response properly (but I did ask a similar question to my Flickr friends, once, which you can see here if you like!)

Short version: I just collect what I think is cute but try to keep my biggest collections to Barbie (vintage & 80s), Tammy & Blythe. Unfortunately I don't display most as I've not got the room but I bring them out for photos.

Long version: I will think about it (as in, how I balance that).

Sorry to bump up the thread but anyone in Australia looking for the basics, I found them at The Reject Shop for $8 each (sorry if this has been mentioned).

I've seen a lot of similar dolls in different national attire (i.e. from different countries) so maybe they're just a souvenir doll? I vaguely remember my mum getting one of these from my uncle when he came back from England in a little plastic cylinder.

Sorry to bump the thread back up but is anyone else not sure if they still want all their Frozen merch? I went crazy when I first saw the film, as I tend to get obsessive, but now I'm not feeling it so much? I just don't want to sell everything & regret it as I tend to go through phases of what I'm obsessed with, you know.
