It was credited to my account immediately as Paypal Credit even though the email said to allow up to 5 days. I'm guessing the 5 days is the wait to transfer to your bank account.

thats great news about the refund!!        I hope that everyone else involved in this gets their money back soon too

unfortunately I also believe you are right about this not being the end of her scamming days yet (unless of course she has scammed people so much that the law does catch up with her sooner rather than later) as this type tend to keep trying again and again either on different sites or with different user names pretending to be someone else or whatever.

My escalation ends today...I'm hoping that I get all my money back, since I had to make 2 payments to her to afford them :/ I tried to file for the first payment, too, but it said that i already had a dispute opened with her.

No, not yet, since the escalation only ended yesterday. I also mentioned it in the write-up about what happened, the amount of each payment, what dates they were paid, and that I'd (kindly) sent extra funds to cover her fees.

You should be able to get all of your monies back from her . If you still havent received it all back once the escalation ends then do give them a call and talk to someone on the phone (usually it resolves things quicker)

Yeah, I remember a number of years ago, you wouldn't be able to get a refund from a fraudulent seller if they didn't have any money in their account.  Paypal would just tell you that you'd get your refund as soon as they had money in there    Obviously that didn't work so good since the first thing someone like this who was intending to defraud a bunch of people at once would do, is remove the money from her account.

Luckily the "buyer" protection now protects us even from people like this.  I don't know what paypal will do to recover the money it had to refund, but I'm sure it will try collections if they can track her down.  Given how easy it was for us, probably they will be able to (or at least I hope so)

I wonder if paypal ever files police reports?

As far as I'm aware, they still cannot LEGALLY go into your bank account and pull the money from there. (Unless the banking industry made some sweeping changes in favor of Paypal that I'm not aware of!)  So my guess is if she pulled some of the funds and was in the red after Paypal pulled what they could from the balance, Paypal would pay them out of pocket, and then go after her for the money, either with a notice in the mail, or a collection agency.

If the police catch up with her, she is in a world of trouble.  Going to jail for fraud, then having collection agencies go after her.  Her name will be mud after this, and her credit could be tarnished for a good while.

I have to ask: Is it really worth it?!
