Title: Your best pony find?

I'm feeling a little down on my pony luck, so I was wondering if anyone had any inspirational "I found a Rapunzel for 25 cents at a thrift store!" kind of stories. :) So what's your best pony find? Did you find something awesome at a thrift store or on Craigslist, or maybe in an Ebay buy-it-now?

My best, without a doubt, was finding my Mimic half-hidden in a lot of G1s. By the end of the auction, I paid under $20 for her. Her pink stripe is faded and she has a small scratch on her symbol, but she was my ultimate grail and I wouldn't trade her for anything else.

The second best was getting a mint G1 Baby Princess Sparkle, with an equally mint carriage, lace border, and sippy cup in a lot with a Dream Castle for $50. Unfortunately, I sold her when I thought I had outgrown ponies. :huh: But the buyer was ecstatic to finally own her, and I'm guessing she's a lot more loved there. :)

My best find has to be the time I found two G1 My Little Pony porcelain figurines at a Goodwill store that usually has nothing. One is Glory the unicorn, and the other is just called ''Firstborn'' with the My Little Pony logo on it's back. They were 25 cents each! A spectacular find indeed.  :biggrin:

Just recently a fashion style Luna (non sparkle wing) with crown brush and all four shoes, but my best was two huuuge mega ziplocks of G1's. Sold most off for cheap, but ended up keeping a baby blue Ember, Firefly and baby Firefly!! :D All ponies at the top of my G1 list outside of Applejack/Apple related ponies ^__^ Got a G3 Minty in the bags I always wanted aswell <3 I'm super greatfull to of found them, and get them to good homes!

I get any ponies I see except for G3's because I honestly don't know what they are worth except a few obvious ones, and them seem to come in floods to the thrifts. I really am debating on picking them up, as most are always under $2 per pony, but I have no clue if anyone would ever want 'loved condition' G3's.

My most recent really awesome deal is actually my dad's!  He found quarterback with his hat, a mint Sunspot, a TAF Milky Way, and a BnG Braided Beauty in a bag for $3 at a local car swap meet! sunspot and braided beauty have lovely pink hair still. :)

My mom once found the MO Mommy pony for me at the thrift store.  I think she was $3.  :)

My most recent good find was Baby Princess Sparkle at a garage sale for 50 cents.  She's mint!  I found her less than six months ago.

I love reading about other members' awesome finds!

One of my best finds was MOC SS Lofty at a local flea market for $2! I was so happy and couldn't believe I almost missed her because she was in a tiny stall with a bunch of cheap porcelain figures and toy cars. My other awesome find was a lot of G1s I got over a year ago off Craigslist. I had to drive an hour away to get it and it cost me $100 but all the ponies looked barely played with and included two TAF babies, pearly Baby Surprise, three complete princess ponies with bushwoolies and the nursery collector case filled with babies and accessories.

My mum recently found me Princess Moondust who I keep losing bids on, and two other g1 ponies all for $1!
But my best find ever was a gumtree lot where I got Ice Crystal and his brush, plus over 40 other fantastic g1 ponies, where they all worked out to be $1-2 per pony! There was also the Apple delight family, a big bunch of big brothers with all accessories and more, and the ponies themselves were in fantastic condition with some with original curl still in thier hair :) I didn't even know Ice Crystal was in the lot because he was sneakily hidden! I can say I was very excited to see him and all the wonderful ponies, and the lady was so happy that someone was excited about her childhood collection :)

Mine should be baby Splosh at a fleemarket for, well with todays currency it would have to be just under 2 usd. I also found NSS Truly hidden in a lot on Tradera and got her and three others for around 30usd. :)

My beloved Myer Exclusive Pinkie Pie and Scootaloo plus her scooter found on the same day in the same shop is the best pony luck I've had so far, and with my chronic bad luck I have the feeling that's the best I'll ever do, lol.

I find g1s all the time so here are some of my top finds:)  Night Glider, Pristina, Bouquet and Quackers (all perfect condition) for a dollar each!Valentine twins with a couple other g1 babies for about $3. Winger Skydancer $1.99. Tex with hat and bandana for $5 at a garage sale. A german daddy Bright Bouquet for about $2 from thrift store.

I have found a few Nightlight's and Raindrop's for 1-5 Euro on german fleamarkets. I also found there a Greek Baby Peachy for 50 Cent.
Best find was a Macau Bluebelle for 30 Cent on a fleamarket in a church. Also a mint Bernacle with hat and scarf for 1 Euro and 2 Baby schlummerlein for 50 Cent ;-)

But that is years ago...

I found a bunch of mint G1 princess ponies for reasonable 15-ish dollar prices and a flawless G1 Cupcake at the same place.  I have never seen 80's tinsel in such good condition~

I found Soft Sleepy Newborn Sweet Dreams at Savers for $3! :D I've had a few other good finds, but that was by far the best. I also found the Wishing Well porcelain figure at the same store for $4.

I feel that my best pony find so far is finding a very good condition Cha Cha Llama (Pony Friend) on eBay. Sure it cost me around $98 to buy her, but... I regret nothing.

My first 2 ponies ,It was an impulse buy,and years back I realized they were actually very discounted for what their original price was and for what they go now on ebay or here on the forum :)
they were the Fluttershy and RD g4 "riding along"that came with scooters :) ( a week later I found Twilight for 4.99 as well )
I paid 2.99 for each, their original price was  7.99 :) and now they go from 15 and up :)
so I started my collection saving 10 :) LOL

It's not a pricy one but, I'd say my best find is a G1 Minty in near- pristine condition. I found her in a thrift store for either a dime or a quarter, I can't remember. The only real flaws she has are  1  tiny black dot on one clover and a smidgen of what looks like sky blue paint on her leg but that's absolutely it. You really have to give her a good look over and squint to see them, too.  The only way she'd probably look better is if she was still like brand new in the packaging.

G4 Minty A for $50 BIN n ebay back in march a few years ago. Im still in shock! :3

Also I got a few prototype ponies off taobao super cheap. I have a pink tinseled sunset shimmer and a color-accurate princess celestia G4 that I havnt seen anywhere else, im the only person I know who owns them. They were a couple bucks each.

I look allllll the time in thrift stores for G1 and hope to get lucky. I would love to find mimic in a baggie for $2 but really any G1 at this point would be awesome!

Thrift store wise, I did find a nice Lil Tot!

I traded her off though, I don't like to keep ponies I don't
much care for just cuz they're valuable. Still it's a pretty neat memory of mine.

I've had some reasonable luck over the years. ^^

So far my best finds would be;

I found 3 TAF Yum Yum's all under $5. One has gorgeous pink hair and smells pretty. I think I paid a $1 for her.
Baby Sunbright for 10c,  she has issues, but hey I still love her. :)
3 Glow 'n show ponies all under $5
2 UK Princess Sparkle with their saddles and one works.
2 Scandinavian Gusty's ^^

The most I've paid is $5, I feel very lucky.

I haven't been actively collecting ponies for long, but I wonder if it really kicked off last spring when I spotted a Daisy Dancer Sweetheart Sister on eBay. Something about her colour combo and gracefulness really grabbed me. I didn't buy her, but I did blog her on my tumblr.

Anyway, last summer I was thrifting and the most amazing thing happened. I found a Daisy Dancer in wonderful condition -- complete with earring and factory mane curls!!!

I love threads like these! My best find was 100 ponies on Craigslist for $100. I didn't know what was in the lot or what condition they were so I tried to offer something fair in case they were all baity. Most of the ponies were pretty dirty, but quite a few were just perfect and so mint! There wasn't anything ultra rare in there, but ther were several hard to find ponies and I found lots of upgrades for ponies I already had. My favorites were Glow, Flurry, Fancy Mermaid Sea Shimmer, and some TAF ponies!

I'll never forget finding Baby Rainribbon in a charity shop for 50p. :)
I'd given up hope of ever finding a G1 'in the wild,' but she turned up in a box of G3s. Completely made my day. ^-^

I have many awesome finds,but the two best are probably Tux n' Tails for $3 at a flea market and SS Angel for $2 at that same flea market.

May or may not be a good deal to some. Depends on perception. I got  MO Mommy pony for $30 from a toy dealer. I thought that was a great deal.

Hm, I have to think about this...I've never had any spectacular finds like Mimic or Punzie, but there are a few I love that I consider great deals. ^.^

At a toy fair last year I found a minty Pony Bride with her veil and cake, and managed to bundle her with a bunch of other G1s for a great price! Another time, when I met the same seller at an antique fair, she had an incredibly clean Tex! :D I'm a HUGE sucker for BBs, and nabbed him for definitely less than he was worth.

One time I found G2 Tipsy Tulip (with both eye jewels!) in a bin with a bunch of fakies, and managed to get her for 50 cents! And lastly, I purchased G3 Silver Rain (looks like she came fresh out of the box) at the same toy fair mentioned above for only $2. :happy:

Okay, last one...(I'll be posting a brag thread about her shortly...)

Last summer I found 11 G1 ponies at a thrift store including 3 of the m/o pearly babies for .25 each, it was an amazing find and at that price it was a steal :biggrin:

My sister found a gen one windy wing pony in great shape wings attached, for $ .25 . I got a castle carrying case with ponies and a winger with original wings for about $30.00 for everything. That included a dream castle with accessories.

Once I was lucky enough to find most of the 25th anniversary set for less than $5 I think it was! 
I also found my very first G1- Sundance for only 0.50¢  I am very happy to have her now.   :happy:
No real recent finds though that were incredibly good.  Well other than a Minty I found that was in pretty decent condition.  I made her a pair of socks and now she resides with Princess Starlilly.

I have a little bit of good pony luck over the years.  I found a Mimic at a thrift store for like $.75 even though she had a name written across her side in permanent marker.  I also managed to find 2 TAF babies with a bunch of other G1s and vintage toys for about $15, a My Pretty Pony for a quarter, a bunch of near mint ponies on Craigslist with most accessories (could have gotten more but didn't have enough money :( , a MOC Persian My Little Kitty set at a flea market for $.50 and Baby Sweetcake in a pony lot BIN on eBay for about $16 for the whole lot.  There are probably some I am missing but those are my best ones that stick out in my mind.

I've been pretty lucky over the years as well, but MIB Diamond Dreams is definitely a special find.  The thrift store I found her at hardly ever has anything.  I just stopped by on my way through town and was making a quick run-through.  I ended up starting at the back of the toy aisle.  As I glanced upward .... I nearly fell over when I saw the side of the box peeking out on the top shelf.  I almost fell over again when I saw the price ($6.99! The same as the original price tag!)

Lol, I can honestly say that I've never had any great find in my life for the very simple reason that I've never found any ponies on a German fleamarket. Oh, and neither do I buy pony lots on Ebay and the like. :P

Candy Apple and Flower Bouquet in a charity shop. They were both in a bit of a state but some soap, shampoo and a session with the hair straighteners later...gorgeous again! I love them so much more for having "rescued" them  :)

Oh, and then years later I found a bundle of 8 G3s, 3 Breezies and some accessories in a charity shop and bought the lot for a fiver! Never had such luck since though

I once got a tiny teeny pony for .50c. I was at the mall and they had a thrift or rummage sale going on. I am sure I have purchased one or two for a great price but this is the only one that really sticks out in my mind.

 My mom usually finds some really good pony deals for me, but my own personal best was probably the one at a yard sale right down the road from my own house! I saw they were having a yard sale and decided to walk over... lo and behold, there was a fairly large lot of G1s! The lot included the entire Apple Delight family AND a bunch of pony clothes! And I'm pretty sure I got the whole lot for under a dollar.

Too many to list!  But then I was collecting at a time when ponies were still pretty commonplace at car boot sales/charity shops etc.  Almost all of my UK release G1s were bought at car boots for a few pence in the late 90s-2001ish.  It's weird to think back to those hot summer days where there were probably two or three stalls with ponies in every aisle at a car boot.  I remember sifting through heaps of G1s every weekend looking for ones I hadn't got...crazy.  These days I'm lucky to find one G1 all summer!

Looking back, one of the ones that stands out was a big bag of ponies for £2.  Most were fakies and I didn't think much of them at the time.  I bought it for what I believed was a rare "ceramic Baby Explorer"...turned out she was a prototype.  Also in the bag happened to be Spanish Piggy Pony Perla.  Plus three or four random G1s.

Cheapest pony ever was Baby Fifi for 2p!  I often wonder why that lady even bothered to pay to hire a pitch if she was going to sell things so cheaply!

Nine ponies including Italian Lemon Drop and Bon Bon for £1, Thailand Tornado for 50p, Rollerskating Melody, Kiss Curl, Music Time and a variant Princess Pristina for £1.50, Baby Candy for 10p, Baby Licorice for £1, Baby Ruby for 50p, Mummy Berrytown for 50p, Daddy and Mummy Meadowsweet for £1 each, Mummy Sunbright for 50p...  Just some of the ones I remember but gosh, there were a lot of bargains over the years. 

Then there's the ones I regret leaving behind with hindsight, especially the massive box of G1s (probably 200 or so ponies) I found a lady packing up at the end of a car boot sale.  She said I could have the whole box for a fiver but I was only about eight at the time and just quickly pulled out a few I hadn't got which she charged 20p each for.  I still wonder what else was in that box!  Can I travel back in time now please?

Wow guys!!  Great bargain stories!!

I recently picked up baby Splosh at a car boot sale for 50p, have had baby Meadowsweet at another car boot for 50p and an entire G4 Crystal Kingdom castle for 50p  :shocked:

Then I have picked up a baggie for £5 which contained a lovely Snuzzle to upgrade my current one AND an almost entire artist G1 ponywear set :D

Best bulk buy has to be the lot which got me started on G1 collecting. My fella's brother did a house clearance and found a box of G1 ponies, which he sold me for £20. 17 ponies all in very good condition, most just needing a brush and one of those whisky packing tube things filled with pony wear and accessories!!

Then there's my freebie  :lol:  an almost complete Lullabye Nursery with 10 ponies from one of my school friends - her parents were clearing the attic to move somewhere smaller now their children have flown the nest!!!!

Actually, feeling lucky now :D

Hmmm, I haven't had any crazy awesome pony luck yet, but I did find G1s and G2s "in the wild" at someone's room sale at Breyer Fest last summer.  She had tons of G3s, some G1s, and a couple of G3s all priced at $1.50 each.  I got G1 Up Up and Away (her hair is still pink, too) and G2 Bright Berry.  I regret not buying more, but I wanted to save my money for Breyers because it was Breyer Fest after all haha.  It's a good thing I only got those two because on the last day of Breyerfest I had exactly enough money to get one last Special Run right down to a dollar!  If I'd gotten even one more pony I'd have been out of luck haha.  That's the only time I've gotten a G1 somewhere other than online, and I'd never even seen a G2 in person before that!

I've had alot of really good deals through the years, but mostly back in the early 2000's when it was still common to find G1s everywhere. Some highlights were TAF Munchy for 50-cents, Pearly Baby Glory for 25-cents, SSN Pink Dreams for $2, UK Bon Bon for $1, etc.

I've found some good deals during my searches, but that's probably the best. The funny thing is, I had to wait a few days for them. I was in a thrift store, and I glanced into the back room and saw HOOVES! I asked the lady if I could buy them and she told me that I had to wait till they were on the sales floor. I was sure I wasn't going to get them. We kept checking back and I got lucky!

Answered a weeks old ad and got a MIB Baby Bonnet School of Dance, MIB Baby Lucky, MIB Spike with cartoon eyes, a loose Pretty Parlor, most Megan & Ponywear, and a bunch of loose ponies . . . for $50.

Then there's the time I found piggy Minty at Value Village . . .

In the past I had some awesome finds. Like lancer I rarely come across g1s as everyone is looking for them/well there's not so many in circulation any more.

In the past  my best would be ice crystal for under 50p twice
Thundercloud 50p 2 x tornado for under £1
