I love your videos and your channel, thank you so much for posting a review of the new releases. Looks like the box appears to be smaller or slimmer than the original, love the packaging!

Wow, I didn't know there were so many different Moonstones. I took comparison pics of mine with 35th anniversary Moonstone.

I think the 35th anniversary one is a pretty close match to my childhood Moonstone.
My phone camera doesn't seem to pick up her shade of blue very well.

Love seeing comparison pics, thanks a lot Ponyfan! Your original has blush that is stronger and nicer than the new ones <3

There are multiple versions of 80s Moonstone with varying body shades as she was released and rereleased a few times, one of those versions does closely match the new one but not 100% obviously as the new one still remains a tad darker.
The pink streak in her hair also originally came in either saturated dark pink (similar to the new rerelease which was a color more common in the UK and Europe) or a muted reddish pink which was more common in the US.
The original also had different shades of eye colors ranging from very dark maroon to super bright fuchsia pink which matches the new one.

They used an earlier draft of the art.

I found the Pretty Parlor at Target today on the same endcap as the retro Rainbow ponies.

I also think the other name cards weren’t included either to keep production costs lower or because Bridge Direct thought that it would be too complicated to include different tags for each release. Do many of the G1 tags still exsist or were they something that got easily torn/broken?
Ponyfan
Ponyfan that pic deserves a thread of its own, seriously. Can all G1 collectors take a moment and realize that there are actual boxed G1s sold in stores right now? Even though these photos are from the other side of the planet, I'm still finding it surreal! We need a topic for pictures like this to document their return.

It's cool that you're interested in these details, I'm fascinated by those variants too.
The carded Baby Firefly was from Sweden and has glittery symbols, I have seen the same version sold in the Netherlands. With Baby Firefly I also got an adult Surprise with the original card from the same owner and according to the seller both were bought together with some Rainbow ponies from the same shop at the same time.
Surprise was from the Scandinavian Unicorns and Pegasus set which included Powder, Skyflier, Gusty (green eyes), Sparkler, Firefly (curly), Medley (curly), Heartthrob, Glory, Moondancer (yellow). Interestingly Moondancer, Powder, Glory, and Medley were not shown nor mentioned on their backcards. The Rainbow ponies had similar European art and were the second set (Confetti, Trickles, etc...).

I can confirm that the carded version of Firefly that I own has a forelock with beautiful tight curls and smaller symbols. Meanwhile the boxed US release does not appear to have a forelock with straighter looking hair which is nowhere near as styled as the carded version.
I have seen similar variations with others such as the Rainbow ponies, Newborn Twins, Sweetberry Ponies, etc.. and almost certain it depends on different batches produced by different manufacturers as side by side some of them don't appear to have the same hair/body shades, print, and other details despite sharing the same foot stamp.

Thank you so much for this toyjunky!
Loved seeing the comparisons and can't wait to get mine, I preordered 2 and thinking of adding a 3rd (2 to display on different shelves and 1 to keep boxed). It's a timeless playset and they did a splendid job with the building's reproduction.
Peachy seems darker isn't she?

Yes, well, this is the company which told me that the reason I can't find rainbows in UK stores is that they must have all sold out. Even though nobody in the UK has seen them in stores. So I am not sure their information process is particularly reliable...
And to think the UK were meant to receive the Rainbows first, I can imagine the frustration! At my Target I found the Rainbows in the same aisle as the G4 pony toys but that seems to be an exception as most seem to be finding them on the endcap.
I hope they continue to keep them with the rest of the MLP range for better visibility 🙏

It's disappointing that too many people since January 2018 are having difficulty buying them. To this day if you search for either set online neither are obtainable in most major markets (unless you count pre-order links and overpriced resellers).

The Rainbows arrived from Amazon France a while back which I posted about in the older thread but the original collector set arrived today from Amazon US.
