I love this as an idea, but I have a couple of problems with them. They are making such a fuss about the dolls being 100% customizeable (Is that a word?), but they are severely lacking in some areas, IMO. I won't even think about putting in an order before they make a few changes..

Firstly, for the £100 you don't seem to get any type of face up? Or perhaps they will all have the same factory paint.

Secondly, I think the choices of outfits and hair are really limited. All the hair styles should be available in all the colours, and I wish they would look into increasing the colour selection as well. Only two fantasy colours aren't nearly enough in my book.

I'm very curious to find out what the articulation is like and how they pose, it says they are "fully poseable", but that's all the info I can find on it.

But overall I am pretty excited about the potential of these dolls, i would love to know if anyone has ordered one and what the process was like. Did the doll look like your design when it arrived? What is the quality like?

The look like Princess Fiona, after she turned ogre. But very neat concept.
I have a few items made from 3D printing, that I got for free. They were giving away lots of free stuff so I think the materials must not be too expensive.

Yes, I am not sure I like the look of them, either..
This perticular doll is made from regular old nylon, so not very expensive I would imagine. I think it's the actual process that cost money.

I think this is so cool!  It seems like the concept is still in it's infancy, but it looks like they're moving in an awesome direction.  A lot of the user-made dolls are really creepy, but if you play with the face you can make one that's not.  If I wasn't totally broke I'd want to buy one really bad!

The only downside is that the plastic is porous, which means it's liable to get uncleanably dirty.

Cool idea- but the dolls just aren't cute yet.  Probably as technology progresses they will come out with a better product that costs less.

I've seen some pretty awesome 3D sculpted and printed items out there, but they were mostly realistic 1/6 action figures. For some reason the stylistic girl dolls seem to be ages behind in comparison.

Where are you getting £100 from? I just went to play with the designer, and its telling me:

Which I think is very fair.

Edit: Every one I've made has been £9.99 for the doll.

Yea I got like 58.94 plus shipping for what I created.  I personally don't like the eye color limitations, but everything else is okay to me.  I wouldn't order this though as I don't care for them all that much.

Well the first one I made came to £99 something. I just went back to try and recreate her and it's now telling me £49, so I have no idea what's up with that. It doesn't really change how I fel about them.

The dolls are still only £9.99 with eyes. Having expensive taste in clothes doesn't mean they all cost £100 or are rip offs or whatever.

If I get the money for my birthday like I asked for, I'm going to buy a $28 one I made. She's adorable and I'm very excited. If it all works out I'll post a lot of photos.

They scare me, but I kinda want to see what some faceup artists have done with them. They've got major potential.

Though I'm confused, where are you getting that the doll is only 9.99?
Mine says 59.99.

The blank undyed doll with eyes, NO add-ons at all, is 9.99. Shoes are the most expensive part, but some clothes are on the expensive side too.
