Resolved -- eBay return -- advice, please.
« on: August 30, 2012, 11:48:02 AM »
Sorry, this is probably going to sound really stupid. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with an eBay purchase. I received the wrong package, and sent the seller a message. She apologized and asked if I would please let her know what the postage will be and she will reimburse me to send it back to her. She will do the same with the buyer who received my package and get the correct package to me as soon as possible.

I am just a buyer, not a seller, so I don't have a postal scale. I take packages to the mailing store or the post office if I need to send someting. My question is, how can I tell her what it's going to cost without actually taking it to the post office and mailing it?

Does it say the weight anywhere on the package?
I've gotten lots of packages that have the weight printed onto the shipping lable.
You could also try and guesstamate with a home scale (the kind you weigh yourself on).

Are you in the same country as the seller? chances are, whatever it cost them to get it to you is the same it will cost to get it back to them :)

What it her to mail to you should be what it cost you to mail back as long as you don't change the packaging.

Wow, that was fast! I looked on the package to see if it listed the shipping cost, which it does not. However, it does list the weight, so I guess I can use that. Thanks!

I would just take that weight then and enter it on USPS's site to get the correct shipping cost.
