Pony Corral / Re: Will white tissue paper "bleed" onto ponies?
« on: October 10, 2019, 04:08:03 PM »
It's been maybe a year since I've shipped ponies but I used to always use white tissue and never had any complaints! Deep down I wondered the same thing though and thought about switching to gray or brown but white was just easier to obtain.

Princess Crystal all the way for me. Love her deep purple body color and I always love when ponies have chartreuse hair. I don't like that shade of pink hair she has but I can overlook it. Her space themed symbol is too cool. Silver Swirl is a VERY close second, she's just gorgeous. I wanted to pick Trixie Belle for third but had to go with Hip Holly because well, duh lol. Don't own her yet but plan to someday. Ugh so many pretty ponies we missed out on.

This is a really cute set that I tend to forget exists! Love their bright colors. I had a hard time choosing between Splish and Splosh but ultimately went with Splish because of her seahorse symbol lol.

This one was actually kinda tough. There are a lot of very nice color schemes in this year but a lot of clunky/awkward poses that kinda ruin ponies for me. Moon Shadow was an obvious first choice because of her colors, symbol, and cool name. I never cared much for her gimmick especially since it meant she had a weird pose. I prefer her later release Lady Moonshine. Satin Splash was my 2nd choice - gotta love that bold yellow body color. I went with Tipsy Tulip for 3rd. Didn't appreciate her as a kid but I've grown to like her unusual colors and her strange, adorable name. I do wish she didn't have that turning head gimmick though because it means she looks a bit off IMO.

Berry Bright remains a favorite of mine since childhood. I picked Ivy 2nd and it was hard to choose between Clever Clover and Petal Blossom for 3rd but I ultimately went with Petal. Her colors are so soft. I think I decided on Ivy for the sake of color variety lol. I had them all as a kid and loved every one.

These days Light Heart, Sky Skimmer, and Morning Glory don't do a whole lot for me. I think those general color schemes are a bit overdone what with Sunny Daze, G4 Fluttershy, and a hundred purple body/pink hair ponies respectively. =P

There was still random licensed G3 items in stores well into G3.5 and partially into G4. I've seen G3 stickers at Michaels sometime in the last couple years but those may finally be completely replaced with G4 now...

This is a very pretty set! I voted Kiwi Tart but I also love Seaspray and Bowtie (her hair colors really pop!) Coconut Cream is pretty nice too. I love Beachberry's bright colors but her pose isn't great. And finally Ribbon Wishes...love her unique colors but hate that pose. :/

I think they're a very nice set overall, though some of the color combos are bland or just repetitive? I love yellow ponies but I feel like there are too many in this set haha. Better than having more pink or purple though.

They were kinda hard to get if I remember right. March Daffodil is actually the only one I ever bought new from TRU even though I wanted a lot of them (and still don't have any others to this day, though I'm not in a hurry to seek them out). She's gorgeous and one of my favorite G3s (I have a lot of favorites but still. lol) July Larkspur has a gorgeous color scheme but I really dislike that head mold.

I have a January birthday and I think Carnation looks nice as is. Love her pose too. =)

Pony Corral / Re: G3 "Retro" ponies on Target website

Wow guys Ponyland is full of surprises lately eh? I don't even know what to think about this. I do adore G3 but I hope this isn't Basic Fun replacing their G1 repros.

Gosh I love G3 Applejack. I can already see myself buying her...even though I have a perfectly good one that I bought new when she was released... G3 was exciting...might be kinda fun to relive that nostalgia even if it wasn't all that long ago (After looking it up: okay I forgot she was released so early in G3! So she is already 16 years old which is more than enough time for nostalgia to kick in). If only I'd had the foresight to keep her in the box knowing she'd weirdly be re-released after G3 and then G4 ended. D'oh!

Honestly, I'm just glad they didn't decide to remake Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Cheerilee. (...yet? :yikes:) The thought of Core Seven returning from the grave in response to M6 angst is like some sort of horrible monkey's paw scenario.

Hahaha...OMG you've got a point. Hasbro don't do it to us again. Those were rough days.

I like the idea but dislike the execution. They look like cheap fakies. :/ Hasbro can do better!

Also I've always disliked the phrase "mane 6" and hate that it's on official merchandise lol

What the heck, these are so cute! I love Cup-Cup, what a name. I actually wonder if they really look this nice in person, because they're really lovely for what they are.

Also, THE APPLEJACK HAS EYEBROWS. I still can't get over that being a thing for her.

I adore them and have bought most of them thus far. I totally agree with everyone saying that Basic Fun is kinda beating Hasbro at their own MLP Game. G4 hasn't been super exciting for me lately. And it's a great point that these are better for kids to play with than actual old G1s!

I will say that I don't know how long I could justify collecting these repros if they keep making more and more, being that I do have so many of the originals haha. I would absolutely continue buying my favorite ponies though (of which there are many lol).

Also agree that it would be cool if they started changing things up a little, making variants or prototypes that never came to be in G1. OMG, how about G2 or G3 ponies in G1 molds? At that point I would just have my paychecks sent directly to BF.

A couple of Targets I checked recently restocked scented Rainbows. Kinda hoping this means they could have boxes of the Unicorns/Pegs sitting around in the back too lol. Congrats to UK folks who are starting to find them!

I adore G1 Twilight but the only thing I really like about this one is her body color and pearlyness. :/ Her head is weird and the color of her stars was an awful choice. Maybe something that will be better on the real thing than on the prototype in these photos? Either way it's $20 I won't be spending. More money for Basic Fun. :P

I'm trying to get my niece a bunch of ponies for her birthday and I'm trying to get her a good mix of colors, poses and types. At Target today I got Confetti, Tickle, and the Pretty Parlor. I really wanted to include Sunbeam and Bubbles too, but couldn't find any at either Target in my area - not even on the Target website! So I was just wondering if they still even sell those two in stores. I'm not about to start buying secondhand because I see that they're already going for much higher than retail.

If anything this is a good sign that Basic Fun is doing well though! Honestly I love these sets so much I'd collect them myself if I had the space. It's so exciting to see them in such lovely vintage packaging looking all beautiful, clean, and vibrant! Honestly it's almost surreal - like something out of a dream.

The Earth ponies set has only been out since around the beginning of this year so you should be able to find them if you keep checking I would think. As for the Pegasus and Unicorn set, I don't know about other people but I only saw them a couple times and the last time was several months ago. Maybe it's just my area but they seem to be really hard to get. Personally I'm still holding out hope that they will be more widely distributed in the coming months. I mean, Targets I've been to do still seem to be restocking the original 6 so I feel like it would make sense that other sets would be out longer. I hope.
