Question about restorations again
« on: October 04, 2012, 01:27:55 PM »
Hey ponies! First I'd like to know how you feel about restored nirvanas? I have an Auriken Snuzzle, Peachy and Twilight that are in bad shape. They need new hair and even eye and symbol touch ups.

Second, if I do restore these, what's the best way I can make sure that people know they're a restoration? I don't want somebody putting them on ebay saying "Mint condish blah blah blah!"

Thanks!

you could mark the ponies, idk punch a little hole under their hooves or write something with ink

I think that ponies who need a touch-up should get it, if the hair cannot be saved at all then they should get a rehair

Okay. I definitely want to rehair the poor ladies. Here are some pictures of them.

I don't know about rehair, the ponies still have most of their original hair left, at least Peachy has and Twilight's look like it has been cut to regular mane length. I would probably just fix Twilight's eyes and otherwise leave them as is. But they're not super rare so I think you can just choose which way you like them best :)

I don't think Peachy is that bad. Maybe a thorough cleaning would be enough for her?
If you do any restorations mark what you did under their feet in permant marker or by scratching it into the plastic, such as "rehair", "symbol", ect. Many people who collect Nirvanas prefer original over restored, even if original is severely flawed so I think you should only restore them if you plan to keep them. If that's the case, they're your ponies so restore as much as you please. :bigups:

Okay. I am going to try removing that ink on Twilight.

Side note! I was on ebay browsing today and I found a Snuzzle and Peachy like mine, and it said they were in a playset together. Is that true? If it is, that means mine have probably been together from the start! How neat. Lol!

Edit: 6666 posts!

Peachy! *grabby hooves* Sorry, I've got very attached to Peachy recently, now I want all Peachies!

I think the rule seems to be with Nirvanas that if they still have their hair, no matter how knotty and dry etc it is, it's best to leave original rather than rehair. I think unless they're bald or have very very short hair, people seem to prefer their Nirvanas as is.

I have had alot of luck with conditioning and straightening/defrizzing mexican pony hair.  Most of my Mexican ponies showed up dirty and frizzy!   I am not against restoring symbols, eyes or hair if needed!  Ponies should look thier best!  That ink should come off with sunfading.. also had alot of success with that too!  Good luck I am sure you will have them looking great soon!

Thank you moondancer, I'm going to give that a try! I also think I am falling in love with them...they've been on my kitchen table for three days now. :P
