I was browsing the website to see if they had any updates or something new added.  Then I went to the ticket section.

It's here:
https://hascon.hasbro.com/tickets

You can scroll down until you see the ticket prices.  I think the event lasts three days but just to purchase one day it's $60 and to purchase the entire three days it's $165.  Are you freaking kidding me?  That's not including if they have stuff to buy.  It's so freaking expensive.

I remember being upset when fan expo raised their prices but I haven't been able to go in a few years so I haven't been ontop of it.

The 3 day pass does sound pricey.  Does it include free stuff?

I'm thinking that this year's pricing has finally excluded the majority of MLP collectors.  Sorry, Hasbro, in case you forget, we buy $6 pieces of plastic, there is no way we can afford  these ticket packages.

I would think Hasbro keep prices reasonable to draw bigger crowd in.

I agree.  I mean, unless these are previous ticket prices but I don't remember there ever being a hasbro con before but I might be wrong.  You'd also figure for that price you would get free stuff but I didn't see anything about that either.

That price is pretty steep, I was expecting a more family friendly price, even if it is being promoted as a FANmily event. I hope MLP at least gets proper representation.

I had a look around the website and read a few FAQs, is it normal to restrict celebrity autographs to merchandise bought at the event only? What if a child wants Andrea Libman to sign their Pinkie Pie toy/poster/whatever that they brought from home? Sorry, crush their dreams instead apparently.

if you peek in the Fair forum, it was announced that theres going to be a discount for MLP Collectors :)  We are apparently even getting our own area to trade and sell?

I wonder if they will have a MLP exclusive!

I also wonder if they are going to preview new Jem dolls/merch!

But yeah, that price is VERY HIGH for a brand new convention with no promised goods...

I hope the discount to MLP collectors is pretty steep!

Yes, that is totally normal.  For book signings too- it's considered bad form to bring in your own copy instead of buying the copy being sold by the author right there...

Yeah but it looks like that's only for people have attended before. Good luck getting any new people at that price. I definitely can't afford it and don't know many who could.

I feel like Hasbro doesn't really know what they're doing or what audience they're trying to target with this 'Con.  Like, are they wanting it to be a family event where families take their kids to it?  Or do they want adult geeks?  It seems like they're trying to cater to both.  The thing is, just because an adult collects one Hasbro toy brand doesn't mean they collect all the rest.  So to me it would make more sense as a family event.  But then they're having Peter Cullen and Frank Welker (original Optimus and Megatron VAs), who kids are not going to know or care about, and they have this really high ticket price . . .

Hasbro's just looking to cash in.

Theyknow SDCC sells out in seconds these days- they know Hasbro and Mattel's "exclusive" lines are the longest, and they already make a TON on SDCC "exclusives" - including all the "extra" exclusives that are sold on their site.

They no doubt have concluded that there is a "market" for convention goodies- people will pay for the privilege of paying for toys with the label "exclusive."

So now we have HASCON, where Hasbro gets to keep the ticket sales to themselves, as well as sell lots of overpriced goodies.

What remains to be seen however, is if a "HASCON" exclusive can generate anywhere near the excitement/hype/demand of a SDCC exclusive.

I suppose it will just depend on how awesome the exclusives are.
