What do you use to cut the needle?
well, i have  old scissors, wich arenĀ“t sharp anyway, but "nippers" (right translation?) would be the best solution!
i found handles of exactoknifes great for holding needles.
some arenamembers sell tools too, i know alexia had really nice needleholders of metal. ^^

the fakie looks cute! and i love the lavender-tone. :D  do you want to reroot the tail too or do you want to cut the circle out for a whole tail?

Really?? Could you post a picture?  They only had blue at my dollar store.

emuel, I'm not sure yet about the tail.  I think I'll either have to drill a hole in the center of the circle, or try rerooting it with the holes she already has.  It seems like if I cut the whole circle out the hole would be too big, but then again, maybe with a pony this size the hole should be really big?

Never heard of nippers, but they look like wire cutters!  I have those :)  Thanks!

My camera is still out of works so they won't be the best pics.  She has some stray marks and her legs need straightened out she has been in my bait box.  But if you feel like paying shipping you are welcome to have her. It looks more pink here but it's like a lavender light purply pink color.  I'd call it purple myself.

Well, here's my blue fakie with pretty, soft pink lightly brushed out yarn hair ^_^  That rehairing tool is SO FREAKING COOL.   :frolic:   I may have broken a couple of needles before I got the hang of it, though.  I'm still amazed that the needle and yarn fits into those teeny tiny holes in the plastic...

I wound up cutting the entire circle out of her rump for the tail, and fashioned a plastic washer to help keep the tail in.

Sarahlacewing is sending me her purple fakie to customize for Bella, so I'm practicing with the blue one in the meantime.  I am going to paint her like a G3 Dream Blue pony.   :art:

@FairyDust - I'm not sure what the brand was, but it is baby yarn that I picked up at Walmart.

I've painted the blue one!  I'll have to come up with a name for her now, lol.

My friend told me that Bella originally wanted a MLP/Mario/Sonic the Hedgehog birthday party (yes, all of them together), so I decided to paint the blue one with a Sonic symbol and give it to her as well as the purple one, which I'll be painting with some sort of Mario symbol.

Here she is all painted up ^_^

I've started sealing the paint using watered down matte mod podge.  How many layers of that should I be putting on there?

That looks great!  Generally if I use Mod Podge, one layer is enough.  If I do any more it ends up tacky.

I think it will come today, if my mail guy ever shows up.  I swear I'm the last person on his route.

Tails is my favorite too ^_^  Flying fox automatically equals awesome.

Ideally, how long should the acrylic dry before sealing it with mod podge?

Edit:  Ah, never mind, lol.  I went ahead and sealed it all.  Looking up how long acrylic paint should dry, apparently IDEALLY it should dry a really really long time that I don't want to wait.  So she's done, and hopefully my impatience will not result in cloudy paint or sealant.  I used thin layers when painting, and let it all dry for several hours before applying the mod podge.

No ponies arrived in the mail today, which is a distinct disappointment.  And I noticed today that we've got a different mailman, and it appears to be the same guy we used to have which is... ugh.  He argues with us and he's lazy.  I'm half convinced he's got my packages and just didn't want to trek up to my front porch to deliver them.

Seriously, once he delivered our neighbor's mail to us, which we left in the mailbox for him to take back, and he left a post it note on it telling us it was ours.  We left a note telling him it wasn't.  He insisted.  We pointed out that not only was our name not on it, but the address wasn't even the same street.  HE STILL ARGUED.

^_^

Update:  Finally hunted down my purple pony from Sarahlacewing (crazy post office people).  I'll be customizing her later  ;)

For Bella's pony party, I gave her the Sonic pony and I customized a little blind bag with a Mario star. I even made a card to go with her (thank you GIMP) and put her in a blind bag (thank you super glue, haha).  The blind bag's name is Super Star.

She LOVED that Sonic the Hedgehog pony.  Considering nearly everyone gave her a pony for her birthday, her completely shocked and excited reaction to this custom was a great compliment, lol.

Here's a few pictures -
