New UK dolls: Kingdom Dolls- anyone getting one?
« on: January 14, 2014, 07:19:47 AM »
Hi there. I started collecting 16" fashion dolls and have been debating over getting a Sybarite doll forever because I love the super articulation. I have never liked their faces though :(. So, I decided to start saving for one and then I saw these:
(warning, these dolls are anatomically more correct than most)
http://kingdomdoll.co.uk/gallery.html

They are coming out this year??? I guess?? Anyway, I signed up for their newsletter but haven't gotten it yet. Does anyone know about these and when exactly they are coming out?

Oh, aren't they sassy?! First I've heard of them, too. Hopefully someone will come along with some more information on them. :)

Pretty-  although not sure I'm in love with their makeup.

I have never heard anything about them- they look really amazing though.

I read an article about them in Fashion Doll Quarterly and it didn't give any more info about the release date or price (which I am scared to hear anyway). Their accessories sound amazing. Including an actual working umbrella. The debut doll (the one with pale lips) named Nelson (after Lord Nelson) is going to be released in a quasi Regency dress and that just makes me want her more. Their wigs look amazing and I love their eyelashes.

They did say that the second mold of doll is supposedly being released before 2014 is over which makes me think they should release Nelson soon.

I looked all over and also couldn't find a price-

But- consider that the Evangeline Ghastly "all resin" fashion doll is $499- I am fearful that the prices will run about twice that considering the added detail and unique molds they brag of...

This one is so gorgeous...

Amen.

I NEED Nelson so freaking bad it hurts. The other doll (red lips) is making me need her every time I look at her. She's supposed to be released before 2014 is out. I am even in "Should I sell my g4 collection!!!??!????" mode. I am going to guess that they will be comparable to Sybarites (similar detail, also UK-based) .

UK people, do you know any more details??

I want redlips pretty dang bad thanks to you!

I am depending on you to please update me if you learn more of these gals...!!  ALthough I also signed up for the newsletter...

I was going to say we should check with the bigger doll dealers for sale info- but then I read this on their facebook page:

Quote
All our dolls will be sold via the website http://www.kingdomdoll.co.uk/ information on Nelson will be in the Holiday news letter.

So we need to find someone who got the first newsletter...

I hope that because they are a new company, maybe the prices won't be so crazy as I fear...

EDIT:

I emailed the company to see if they could send me the prior newsletters.  The rep did so immediately.  Unfortunately, there isn't much to it-  it includes the picture above and the following:

Quote
Meet Brighton in
Fashion Doll Quarterly magazine.  (link to Fashion Doll Quarterly)

Fashion Doll Quarterly gets an exciting first look at our second doll.
In this issue you will find an exclusive interview and early photographs of next doll Brighton. Novantae's second appearance was inspired by the popular southern English coastal town of Brighton, renowned for being a vibrant and colourful hub of creativity. Brighton will feature a wealth of accessories, several of which are handcrafted and were exclusive commissioned by us for this doll. With this attention to detail and her limited edition size of only 30 dolls, Brighton is both highly desirable and collectable!

The rep said that there was an earlier newsletter sent on December 24th- but apparently the "preview" from that newsletter is now up on their site- she gave me a link to : http://www.kingdomdoll.co.uk/ftklne.html

So no actual information about pricing yet...There is a bookmark on their website where it looks like they are going to put dolls for purchase...  so I bet that will be the first place we will see pricing.

LIMITED TO 60 DOLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

 :drunk: :stressed: :freak: AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Galactica, you are always so good at researching! Thanks for all of the info. Yes, they are brand, spanking new. Which is why I am panicking. I have no idea what kind of response they'll get and I'm picturing a scalper buying 45 of them.

I hope I am overreacting. Sorry about addicting you too. I should upload my drawings of designs for clothes. Maybe I should forward them to the people of Kingdom Dolls. Maybe they will take pity on the poor, crazy woman... lol  :lookround:

Nelson is due out at the end of January.

Brighton (red lips) is limited to 30  -_- . Well, I hope this doll does really well and that I can actually have one someday.

I guess they are starting small since they are a super small company-  they seemed really nice though via email, and really responsive too!

I am very dismayed about Breighton being an edition size of 30-  that's ridiculous!

They are really nice on Facebook too, I made a comment and they clicked 'like' on my comment.

Well hopefully they make a ton of money and start making bigger runs. This is my new grail.

Got the email announcing that they will be released on January 31st for $650 and limited to 60 dolls. I definitely won't have the money then, but I am saving up to get one of these beauties sometime.
