Let me see ... Your American Girl Dolls!

So I've been toying with the idea of getting an American Girl doll, for quite some time (like two years!), and I am about to take the plunge, but would love to see some of your collections to give me the final push! So lets see those Ag's!!

I love seeing pics of these adorable girls!  I don't have one YET, but I have already designed one for myself, and have her saved in my photobucket, lol.  One day I'll cave and get her.

Wow! Those girls look gorgeous!

My real dilemma is between decideding on getting a Just like you doll, or a Historical doll. I want one that has black hair with bangs, to make character outfits for, but none of the Historical characters have the hair style that I'm looking for. BUT! my main draw to the line is the historical aspect (since Im a huge history fan!! ) its looking like I'm going to end up buying two! For those of you who have both (a JLY or Historical) which do you perfer?

I eager to see some more pictures of your AG's!!

OMG, I used to read these books all the time. I found them again a few months ago and re-read them too.

I always got the catelogs and pined after the girls. Both the Historical lines and the look a like ones.
Josefina and Molly used to be my favorites.

I don't have any photos, but when I was a kid I had Samantha & Josefina. As an adult I have Felicity & Elizabeth.   
I was always a fan of the Historical ones - the dresses and accessories were so pretty and intricate. I didn't feel the need to have one that was just like me.
Now that Felicity & Elizabeth are retired, I'm really tempted to sell them and pick up Marie-Grace & Cecile. 1850's New Orleans? Awesome.

I always pined after the catalogs too! I never did own one of the dolls, nor did I get the chance to read the books as a child, but I did own a Magic Attic Doll (anyone have one of those?) Same deal, but instead of focusing on history, it was fantasy. I really loved my Magic Attic Doll, which makes me think I will enjoy the American Girl Series!

I have a JLY, Girl of the Year (Kanani), and a Historical Doll (Julie). I think you should get a JLY doll, then get the Historical Books. The books are really well written (I have a lot of them) and you learn a lot about that period of time. At the end of the books, they have lots of pictures and facts about the time period.

I have 4 AG dolls, and for sure prefer the historical ones. Only on of mine is a just like me (from '96).
The historical dolls I have are Samantha, Josefina, and Kit. Their clothes and accessories are so much prettier than the modern ones.

I had Samantha and Addy, and I definitely prefer the historical ones. Thats what the AG company started with after all... I wonder where mine are...that might be the next thing I go searching through the attic for...

I really miss having Addy and Samantha out and about but we are reorganizing the house so that we can do some renovations...  my doll stuff takes up an entire closet when you consider all the furniture and such, so it got packed first.

They are beautiful!  I LOVE Josefina!
