Avatar-picture and home-categories

I have 2 questions
My avatar who is a GIF changes to PNG when I upload it as an avatar-picture.. I worked earlier with similar pictures. And I have dubble-checked before I post it and also tried to re-upload it too and it still changes to PNG
What I do wrong?
visitors can't see pics , please register or login


And the second question is:
I wondering if something its wrong with my arena? The categories are gone when I vistit the start/home of the forum. Earlier there was categories to the left.

I have the same problem with GIFs. Would like to know too

I think if the dimensions are over 150 by 150 pixels, the forum resizes it to make it fit. The resized version is changed into a PNG file.

Do you also know why the I dont able to see all the categories to the left?

If I understand correctly, you'll need to click the visitors can't see pics , please register or login
 button in the upper right hand corner. It's an annoying little button that confuses everyone when they click it by accident. (Even me!)

I dont see that button  When I click on the >the MLP arena< link the leftside-box doesnt appear..
