How to sell giant plush Frilly Frocks?
« on: December 22, 2019, 04:46:48 PM »
I sold off my entire pony collection a few years ago except for my 3 foot stuffed Frilly Frocks, from the G3 points program. She's still in fantastic condition. I'm *almost* ready to get rid of her - still a little too much sentimental attachment. I'd love for her to go to a collector instead of a random kid, but how the heck do you sell such a big, stiff stuffed animal? Or I guess more accurately, how would you ship her?!
(On another note, I'm so thankful that this site is still going strong and I still have access to the old email account I signed up with!)

honestly I just sucked  it up and paid the like $50 to not have my giant minty unstuffed :-) so I would say post a sale here and get plenty of good pictures and folks know that shipping is expensive sort of but these giant aussie G3's are just the crown of a pony room IMO

good luck and I am sure you will find a MLP-lovin' home for frilly

Thanks, maycrestmom. It looks like that person already has Frilly Frocks, but I'll do a search in the wanted forum to see if anyone else wants her. :)

Edit: Darn, a search only turns up posts from 2012 and 2015.

Where would I find a box large enough for her...?

You could always yank the stuffing out, not sure what you'd do with all that stuffing though...

Ah, that makes sense. What a shame it will be... I may not be emotionally ready for that. XD

It's not so bad.  Just pick open a seam under her tail and the repair will be hidden when she's all restuffed and sewn up again.

Mine all came shipped in large garbage bags (like double or triple layered) with no issues - because I didn't want to go through un-stuffing/re-stuffing. Just stick the shipping label right onto the bag.

You can always offer to unstuff, but leave it up to the buyer.  I got my RD stuffed, and I'm glad I did.  I don't know how I would have restuffed her, honestly.  Some people are OK with the higher shipping while others want the cheaper.  If you find a buyer that wants her to remain "untouched," you won't have to go through pulling her guts out.  ;)
Thanks to Whippetluv for my awsome persona pony!!

Yup it's true, the US post service does not only ship things in boxes, although they of course suggest a box for stability. But if you can put a label with address/stamps on it, you can ship it! Within certain limitations of course. ;)

I remember a few years back there was a humorous Internet website where you could go to the site and pay like $10 and the guy would mail a potato to whoever you wanted. Just a potato, with an address written on it.

I agree with Squirtsquirt, if you decide to sell you can leave the shipping choices up to the buyer.

I sold my giant Frilly plush many years ago (it was so hard to part with her, but I had too little space for her). I just shipped her new in her original box. I could never bring myself to unstuff her. I think shipping might have been $80 to $100, but that was quite a long time ago so I'm not sure how much it would be now. I think I shipped her UPS. If I were to sell one now, I would first try to find someone local (or at a pony meet maybe?) and then try to find someone who wants her shipped untouched.

When I bought my Frilly Frocks I received her unstuffed wrapped up in plastic foil. A few layers of those will also stay good.

Consider a convention?
Giant items are perfect for selling at a con, because that way, there's no unstuffing and no shipping money involved. In a bag, in your car and head over to Texas Pony Friends Forever (if you are close) or FL or CA Western Convention if it's close enough and that would guarantee collectors aplenty.
I think she's really pretty but just don't have the space for a giant plush.

Personally if I were to buy one I would stomach the shipping cost no matter how high it may be. Just feels like it'd never be the same after unstuffing it...

That being said I've seen people talk about partially unstuffing it... though that could potentially create a huge mess when shipping.
