I used to do a lot of customizing when I was younger, but I fell out of it and stopped doing it for a while when life got busy. Now, though, things have cooled down and I can begin customizing again. As a warm up I did a small sculpture of one of my PonyIsland ponies, Metro.
Here is her compared with a normal large chicken egg; I'm sorry that the images are a bit on the blurry side. Her body color differs from her PI counterpart's because I was unable to mix the exact shade of purple.

Her overall design, excluding the pose, was based off a chibi-fied pony style I've used in quick doodles, such as this. Since this was my first time sculpting a pony, I decided to replicate the Takara pose due to it's simplicity.

Oh she came out great all painted up. I like your old chibi drawing as well.
