She is super cool in that colour! But I agree its a general discolouration - the passing of years and who knows what she was exposed to over the years. I have seen sparkle ponies do this before, random coloured sparkles seem to rear their heads occasionally. There was a similar Napper spotted a year or so ago as well - you should find the thread in the Corral somewhere

I dont think its a lengthy time related discoloration as the original owner said she remembers her always that color.

True but at the end of day there's no proof other than the word of the owner. So who knows. Maybe more will go to light

Maybe at the factory they did an "oopsie" batch and just sent them out anyway. We all know how much Hasbro hates quality control

Discoloration can happen quickly. I have a Zelf that I bought that was discolored when they put it on the store shelf. Other people had the same Zelf that discolored after they bought it so I know it's discoloration and not just a different colored batch of plastic.

looks like discoloration. she's pretty though, reminds me of a red grape

Check out pinkkittywinks link. That pony looks just like mine!!! She even points out that the brown version has a pink symbol instead of purple like the yellow version. Mine has pink too. Hers is evenly the same color as mine and she did the same thing with hers by breaking the neck seal and looking for any tail rust which wasnt there.

I have seen ponies discolour when still on the card - I presume due to sunlight though I can't be sure - and as she is a see through material, I can see how that could potentially make it a more even colour all the way through (the discoloured pony I have is decidedly two-tone)

That variation in symbol is common with purple pigments that bleach out to pink with time and exposure to the sunlight. You can see from the first image the symbol is still pretty close in colour to the original purple. Unfortunately that combined with transparent plastics tendency to discolour depending on circumstances look like too much UV. However its certainly possible its a whole weird batch who have all reacted a little weirdly to certain environments - cool!

Either way - whether she is a variant or not, she is just such a cool and unusual colour for MLP She is going to look lovely with your collection.
