US Packages Taking The Scenic Route? Update :D
« on: January 26, 2015, 05:54:05 AM »
On Friday, I shipped a package to Wisconsin from Pennsylvania.  The seller contacted me last night asking why her package is all the way in Washington state.  I have no idea. Post office receipt clearly says the package is going to Wisconsin.  And, I feel bad that I have no answer for her.  So, does anyone here have an idea why the package is on the West coast instead? It says it's still in transit with an expected delivery date of today. There are no new updates, I just want to put the seller at ease. I've never encountered this before.

Thank you!

USPS updated that her items are one state away from her now and will be delayed due to weather!  I'm so happy that she can breathe easier now. :D

I've had packages I've been obsessively checking the tracking/mailbox for hit every state that touches mine before finally arriving at my local PO. I swear sometimes our mail acts like it's on a vacation road trip. Hopefully it will start heading to its home soon, if it becomes too much of a worry though perhaps you or she can get in touch with the post office and ask about it?

This just happened to me! Bought a book on Ebay from New York and it traveled to Colorado before it made it to me in Michigan. So bizarre! Hopefully it arrives soon :)

I have had this problem but actually it seems to be an error with the scanner of the person delivering the mail half the time-

I had a doll being delivered 2-day priority- showing on the day of delivery- to be two states away in the AM and "out for delivery"  - however it was then scanned in at the correct address when it was delivered! So it must have been an error in the system.  They definitely have some bugs with their tracking...

Adding to the list of people that this has happened to before!  It isn't something that happens too often, but it's definitely not out of the ordinary.  I'm sure the package will arrive at its correct destination in time.

I don't think she needs to worry yet, especially since there are still scans. Every missent or misscanned package I have sent eventually sorts itself out. It could be whatever person or machine was sorting misread the state abbreviation WI for WA. Hope it arrives safely soon!

Maybe the PO scanning machine misread WI as WA?

I have on more than one occasion had packages from Ohio go to Orlando before coming back up to me in Tennessee. No idea why. I also have gotten packages from Florida that go up to Ohio before coming back down to me. USPS is wacky. For no real reason sometimes.  >_<
Creatively cute and proud of it!  Have a very good day, [you]!  ^.^

I'm making custom cute pony plushies and have set up an Etsy store called Ponies A'More! Ponies + More + LOVE! :inlove:
Finally got my SALES thread up and update it as I can.  :satisfied:
Lastly, posting my Wishlist here!

If it's not a stressful situation. (like I need Apoxie yesterday, but it can't be here 'till tomorrow) I enjoy watching them go random places. They're taking their own little ride through the country (or countries).

I think she is stressing about it, afraid they're lost. I'm not too worried about it, it's only been 3 days. It is 3 day priority but I had a package that didn't update at all until it was delivered and then it all showed up. And my package was about 2-3 days late.

I have had a package going to France that must have spent 10 days going in and out of the Los Angeles Sort Facility.
It was logged into Sort, then out and then about 4 days later back into Sort and then out.  Now it's been sitting in Paris after it left French Customs for another 4 or 5 days.  It only took 2 days for it to show up in France after it finally left LA.

If anyone has packages coming from or coming through the northeast (?) Then keep in mind about the blizzard that's also delaying the mail ^^;

Totally different country but I bought a pony on tradera and the seller was in a town 2 hours north of me. He used a shippingcompany whos sorting facility was in Stockholm 600 kms south of me. The package went all the way down there, and then back up to me. It was insane..
