Title: Are the sweetberry/sundae ponies really that hard to find?(PC on them please)
Post by: terabithianprince on April 04, 2012, 08:39:02 AM
Sorry if this is a silly question but it's one set of ponies I would like to complete and I'm having trouble finding them.

Also I was wondering what a reasonable price would be to pay for them? What do they usually go for?

No such thing as a silly question on here I dont think so anyway!

Personally I think they are one of the easier sets to track down to be honest....mainly as I think they just dont seem to be all that popular a set...in nice condition most of them will be around the below prices...

Banana Surprise - $4 [max - bless her little socks she is super dooper unpopular and you sometimes see her sell as low as a couple of $]
Coco Berry - $7-8 [if her hair is still nice and pink - she is probably the most popular of the set - dont we just love Unicorns!]
Crunch Berry - $5-6
Peppermint Crunch - $5-6
Sherbet - $5-6
Swirly Whirly - $6-7

At least thats what I would pay for them in nice condition and thats what recent prices on ebay seem to be around.

Thanks for the price check. Most of the ones I see on ebay are a lot higher than that.

Wow you are right. I didn't think they were worth that much either but I just checked ebay and many recently ended auctions are at $8-15. For the regular common Sundae best ponies.
Have they gone up in popularity lately?

I´ve totally noticed this too! Collectors here really don't like her, which I don't get at all since I LOVE her and think she is adorable, on top of loving bananas :P

But yeah, no idea why they are so high on Ebay, my best suggestion is, just try to find them here on the arena :)

What you have to factor in on ebay are a couple of things...

1) Some of the ponies on ebay which have recently ended in this set on ebay have had their accessories with them - for some of this set 'a ribbon, a comb and a barrette' are combined "worth more" than the pony - so some of the auctions are high because of this

2) There are auctions for each and every one of the Sundae Best ponies in the last 3 to 4 weeks which have finished without bids at all and starting prices at the above averages...

Therefore...with ebay you are working with an average - some will go high, some will go low and occasionally some will hit the average price which is pretty much what a PC does...give you what we all think they "should be" [not necessarily what the most recent ebay auction may have gone for lol!!]

Oh and I do agree Sherbets recent prices on ebay have been a little crazy...I thought she was as unpopular as Banana Surprise until recently! Obviously not...

They're fairly common... I was able to complete my set last year through trades and swaps.  :)  You might have to outright buy Swirly Whirly, but the others come up for trade fairly regularly if you keep an eye out.

Best of luck on your pony hunt!

Thanks. And what about the sweetberry ponies? I think that's their name but I've forgotten their names. I know Raspberry Jam is rather easy to find but not sure about the others.

I've got an extra banana surprise... she'd like a new home... lol

I think Sweet Berry ponies run a bit more than Sundae Best. I've traded for the majority of mine so I don't know a good pc for any.

cranberry muffins
blueberry baskets
boysenberry pie
cherry treats
strawberry surprise
raspberry jam

Out of the Sweet Berry ponies, Blueberry Baskets is the most expensive - she's usually between $20 and $30.  The rest are around the $8 - $12 mark.

For me I always seem to end up with Cranberry Muffins.  At one point I had like 4 or 5 of her!

hmmm....

this lot are certainly more sought after, a little harder to find and more expensive - I certainly found a couple of them really tough to track down...I do adore Cranberry Muffins

Cranberry Muffins - $7-8
Blueberry Baskets - $15-20
Boysenberry Pie - $8-10
Cherry Treats - $6-7 [mind you a white one because I dont believe one exists you may hit triple figures lol!!!!]
Strawberry Surprise - $12-14
Raspberry Jam - $6-7

XD I got my Raspberry Jam for just a few dollars, but she has a big brown spot on her nose. I don't mind it though, and she smells amazing!

That is one white Cherry Treats usually the ones I see are discoloured lol.

I've only seen them a few times. I hope to get them all for my collection. ^_^ Just got a PM about Crunch Berry

Oh, I was just about to ask about the discolouration. I found on on eBay that was yellow. Not yellow-ish, just full out YELLOW. XD Is it normal for her to be that yellow?...
She's listed under "MY Little PONY - CHERRY TREATS with Saddle G1 Vintage 1984".. :ninja:

Cherry Treats is very often yellowish, yellow or brwn.  It is very difficult to find her white.

*drools over mlp4me's Cherry Treats*  Aw, she' so pretty!  I'm still holding out for a white one of her, so I also don't have her.  Or Raspberry Jam.  I've has 2 Blueberry Baskets, though.  :)

Oh, I see. I can't imagine she'd be too hard to sunfade if she's just a tiny bit yellowed. :)

Cat,

You really think Cranberry Muffins is worth that little? I thought her price was pretty even or above Blueberry Baskets? I think you reversed the price for Cranberry Muffin and Strawberry Surprise?

Looks like Bluerose has omitted Cranberry Muffins from the price guide: http://www.angelfire.com/oh5/bluerose9978/PRICE/ (http://www.angelfire.com/oh5/bluerose9978/PRICE/)

I have PM-ed several of you. I have 3 Cranberry Muffins I am selling/trading.

ETA:

I just did a completed auction search on evilbay and looks like the price has really gone down on Cranberry Muffins, maybe I should hang on to them until the price goes back up- I know my acquisition cost was more...

$6-9 (http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?rt=nc&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=My%20little%20pony%20Cranberry&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283)?

Oh wow the price has gone down. I'll look over the ponies in the pm again shortly. Deciding which ones I want to buy is going to be the issue.

Chip...I know what you mean...I remember spending close to the $16ish mark when I was looking for her 3 or 4 years ago...I dont quite understand the price drop if I am honest maybe she is just currently a little over looked?...I think there was even one that didnt sell on ebay uk recently and her starting price was around £5. Not only that the one at $9 was from a certain seller we all know whose ponies always end higher than everyone else and the one at $8 had her accessories hence why I rounded down her average price!!!

I pc from recent auctions and prices on here...as you know prices change so dramatically that just because in 09 she was about $20 doesnt mean she is going for the same 3 years later....although with the pattern of pony prices hopefully she ll shoot back up in value in a year or so!!! You never know I guess.

@mlp4me....seriously!!!!!!! that is not only the whitest Cherry I have seen...it may be the only white Cherry I have seen...I am in awe [its like a rare white variant...] and would trade my puppy for one that white he he he....

While we're on the topic of food related ponies :frolic: I imagine the other ones (candy cane ones) can go quite high? :)

I think even the candycane ones are down low now too.... I know Mintdreams & the yellow one can sometimes get pretty high.

Are you trying to find out about all the food related ones, because here are a few I can think of right now...

Munchy MO Lil Cupcake and her sister Sweetcake? never seem to lose their value!

How about the more common ones: Lickety split, AJ, Apple Delight family, SSTwist, Yum Yum- I'm sure I am forgetting a few!

It seems that sweet berry ponies are very prone to yellowing. Curiosity is getting to this cat... I think it's time to find out if any come non-yellowed... returns to corral to start a new thread...

Oh, I see. I can't imagine she'd be too hard to sunfade if she's just a tiny bit yellowed. :)

Therein lies the problem! I think she's one of few white ponies who does not sunfade properly. She burns and turns brown! (If I'm mistaking her for some other pony, someone please correct me! I think Starshine has this problem too..?)

I guess I'm lucky...I've come across 3 Cherry Treats (2 still in my possession and the one now residing with mlp4me) and all have been white! She's so darn pretty.

Also, I do recall that for a while Cranberry Muffins price was kinda high...I thought Raspberry Jam was going up, too, then suddenly she was only being sold for a few dollars. Sometimes I just don't know how these values work lol.

Yeppers, no sunfading for Cherry Treats! Probably why so many are discolored. Keep her in a dark box...

And she's LOVING her new home-thank you  :) .

As said before, I´d be EXTREMELY sceptical of sunfading any scented pony (+ Starshine for some reason) as they tend to burn! so yeah, no sunfading for these girls ^^

Here's my Cherry Treat, and she's really white. Head's a little whiter than body, but not disturbingly much. Her only flaw is, that her ear tips have been re-sculpted.
