Hello, all! It's been a while :-)
I'm clearing out some of my collection, and I wanted to ask you kind folks for a little advice.
I'm planning on parting ways with a Taffy I got from another collectors "project box". The flocking on her body is in fair condition; some discoloration on her hooves, and lint caught in it, but overall intact. However, her head is almost completely unflocked, with just old yellowed glue.
What would you do in my situation? Should I finish the job and deflock her entirely? Or just sell her as-is?

i've seen it happening in real life as well, the only g1s ive seen at flea markets this year have been in excess of $12 for very basic, common ponies like peachy. now, who knows if some other collector came around before me and snatched up all the reasonably priced ones ;-) but all i've seen is the spensy ones

with regards to "g*psy* being used in official contexts, it's not unheard of or even uncommon for words that are considered slurs to have been used in everything from diagnoses to legal paperwork.
"mental r*tardation" was still a diagnosis that was in use up until the early aughts, when the DSM-5 changed it. the US census used to include terms for people of color that are recognized as slurs nowadays.
doesnt mean we have to dig in our heels though, language changes! its not a bad thing to adapt :-P

my feeling is that its a good idea to rename her. i've seen romani people express discomfort with the word for years, in many contexts.
and really, i think that keeping her name is just not the hill to die on. i'd much rather call a pony by a nickname than choose to ignore the fact people that have been hurt by her canonical name.
i like tambourine :-)

My first G1 playset! :-) Found it at an independent thrift shop I like to stop by whenever I visit my grandmother <3 The handle seems to have broken off, but it looks like both pieces are here, so I might try to fix it up?? If anyone has a picture of their intact one, I'd love to see it! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThere's also a tutu and a flower crown in the Ballet Box! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginBesides the handle, it looks to be in very nice shape with only a few small spots on the lacey edge. Should be fun to arrange when I get home :-D

I've brought toys or ponies along with me before! I usually like to keep them in little cloth drawstring bags.
I'm sure people have seen me doing it, but I've never had anyone confront me and ask what I'm doing. If you're anxious about anyone asking you, you could always say it's a Flat Stanley sort of thing for a niece or nephew!
I've never lost anything, but if I did I suppose I'd just hope that a child who'd like it would find it? :'-)

i dont have any friends or family nearby with kids, but i think if i did it would be sweet to see a little one playing with some ponies like some of you have described! :-)
i think i'd pre-select a nice group of them thats okay to play with, and leave the more delicate ones at home on their shelves.

I got seapony Fluttershy! She's my first CMC, and I like her! But I think I'm going to try to trade for or by any others that I want, I'm not a fan of blindbags.
