The most expensive pony I've seen in person (and touched!) was a prototype Cocoberry! She was going for 1250.

Pony Corral / Re: Has anyone else had a restoration "whoopsie"?

I have cut into neck plugs with knives before. I specifically remember a SS Shady.  I had to glue the plug back together before popping her head back.  Do people actually glue the head itself back on, once it has been removed?  The thought of that makes me cringe a little. I hope I never buy a pony that has its head newly glued on :(

I melted Beachball's color changing streak on her hair with a flat iron- still kick myself about that!

I'm sure there are plenty other of mishaps I've done.

I've only ever glued Merriweather's back on, but that's because I had to cut through the plug. >n>
All the others I open up I never glue back on because, I really don't want to have to open them up again to clean them just in case, and I know its a thing that some collectors like to know the condition of the neck seal.
I've heard a couple times of people regluing heads back on, but I don't think its a  very wide practice?

When I first got into collecting again, I really didn't like the babies or sea ponies at all.

But now! Now they're really cute. It took a couple years, but they finally grew on me. I'm still picky about the babies, but I can see now why everyone loves them!

Have you had a pony, or group of ponies grow on you that you never thought you'd like at all?

Its not so much a whoopsie, but I feel bad that I had to do it. . n.
I have a Merriweather that I got a good deal on, she was really nice over all but had MASSIVE tail rust
So I got to try and take her head off to clean her out. The glue was too strong. Tried the hot water so much I was starting to scald myself. Tried adhesive remover. Literally nothing was working.

So after a week of trying, I had to cut her head off.
And as bad as I feel, I'm kinda glad I did? She was filled with rust and this black mold and god forbid that spread to the rest of my ponies. She looks great now though! All glued up and rust free!

Also if anyone is looking for a good glue to use. Locktite makes a plastic glue that is designed to glue plastic to plastic. It takes 24 hours to cure. But its really easy to apply and clean up!

There is a local seller near me who has one for sale. Its mostly complete, just missing most of the nursery stuff, TV and kitchen utensils. It also still has its box.

I'm really tempted to get it, because its such a pony dessert up here. But I know next to nothing about the playsets!

Edit: The roof is still very pink and the seller is asking 175.

I got mine for 32, but that was also a good deal. She is still a nice blue, minor yellowing on one ear and  on the wings, and still has her factory curl, only big flaws really are some messy factory paint on her bum (removable, I just haven't yet) and a couple scratches on one eye. 30-50 sounds about right.

None of my sweetberry ponies have any smell :(  well aside from your usual pony smell but nothing fruity :(((((
Most of my sundae best do either. Except this baity Cocoberry I was going to restore. Even after cleaning her down and an oxiclean soak, not only can I not get her head off, But she smells very very strongly of this sugary smell.

For a couple years my mother ran an ebay shop and specialized in selling antique ceramics/glassware etc.
Which, despite packing them as much as possible, a few broken ones happen, and every time, she would pay for the return shipping. Which, yeah it stinks sometimes, but something like covering returns is part of the business.
The seller should absolutely cover the return shipping. The seller not properly handling the item shouldn't cost you money!!

Honestly I just thought my SS Twilight got a poor run in to a lot of rubbing when I compare her to my SS Gusty who's coat is very full and robust. But that does make sense. SS Twilight doesn't really have many bald batches at all usually seen with intense rubbing, so the different flocking does make sense! Thank you for bringing that up!

Pony Corral / Re: What is UP with Funrise's distribution?

Thanks for your kind offer! I managed to find one at my Target; so thrilled this thread let me know the 12 inch ones are easier to find than the 10 inch! I was waiting to post that until I could upload one or two of the pictures I took with her in front of the mirror, but it is such a hectic week I don't know when that will happen. In any case, I am ecstatic to finally have her!

Awesome!! I'm glad you could find her!

I'm in upstate NY, and have seen both Muffin pony and Sunset in the big sizes at the local targets. If anyone is interested I can see about picking up some ponies for them?

Price Check Archives / Re: PC: 2 Tlc Mimics
« on: March 01, 2016, 06:15:59 AM »
I dunno, I think the Mimic with no symbol there might even go lower. Symbols are hard to effectively repair due to paint bleeding and general wear. I've been sitting on this a little bit and though I think its hard to say, I'd go even a little less with her because the flaws are very difficult to repair with out potentially causing further damage to the pony down the line.

The other one, yeah, that sounds about right.

Just out of curiosity, what could take an entire symbol off? Is that possible? Or is it a factory error?

My preference would be to keep as much of the original there as possible and use whats left as a guide for repainting. You could easily remove all of it with acetone if the desire arose.

Does it look like the red was never there? Like it just wasn't printed on? o.o

Thats what I was thinking too. The yellow is clearly there, but the red not. I can't imagine just the red fading away. And its very hard to cleaning remove just part of a symbol, so yeah hmmm. The most logical thing I think is that the red didn't get printed?
