Disappearing photos?

Howdy!

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but here goes.  I've always been able to see all the photos members post (except those that get deleted from their source site, o'course).  Within the last two days, however, I'm starting to see the dreaded little red x boxes on certain images.  This is particularly maddening, 'cause I was waiting to see the insides of a very gungy on the outside Windy (over in http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,312490.0.html ).  The photo is not visible, and suddenly FoalPatrol's avvie and MayanButterfly's avvie have vanished, too.  I haven't changed my pc settings.  Any advice?

Is there any chance you are using IE as your browser? Sometimes IE is not a fan of certain image host sites - where as Chrome or Firefox will tell you a page has a suspect image on it, IE will simply block the image with the good old red x of doom. It happens often when images are hosted on Facebook as IE is not a fan of unknown FB images.

I would try a different browser first to see if that is the issue - if it is unfortunately there is little you can do about it other than to mess around with your security settings on IE but in all honesty thats often not worth the risk or the hassle, I would simply change browser.

I was just about to ask why my avvie and sig have mysteriously disappeared. It happened a few months ago as well and I had to add them again. I don't think it's a browser thing as I can't see them either on my computer or my phone. The original images are still hosted in the same place so I'm not sure what's happened.

And you can't see your avi or signature right now? Oddly when I am in Chrome I can see both images perfectly fine but when I am in IE I cant see either. This does strongly suggest its the browser. Your phone browser could have the same issues as that you are using on your computer - have you tried to view the Arena on a completely different PC/Mac browser. If some people can see both images then its a local issue to your own machine/browser not an Arena problem.

I see your avi is linked via URL, have you tried uploading it to the Arena instead? Perhaps if you try that and see if it makes your avi visible but your signature remains a red x? That will at least let us know whether or not the source URL is the issue.

I just uploaded my avvie to the Arena but now it's tiny!  I also deleted my sig and added it again.  I think maybe the URL had been changed and only certain browsers could process the new format?  Just guessing.

Sugar - I hadn't put any pictures up of her insides!  But I will add one for you soon.

The avatar may have changed in size because I think that when you have a linked avi it forces the image to 150x150 whether that be making it bigger or smaller but when you upload it to the site it shows the avi at its actual size...I could be wrong on that though.

Can you check the pixel size of the file you have uploaded?
