Off Topic / Australia and UK pony peeps, I need some help!
« on: August 21, 2016, 10:54:01 PM »
Aussie and UK ponies, I need some help!

So I live in the US, and my husband was just accepted into a program through his work that gives him the opportunity to work in an international office for a couple years! It's pretty for sure we are heading somewhere next spring to summer, we just don't know where yet!

I'm wondering if you wonderful pony peeps would be able to help me out with a little info to help us figure out where we will be able to afford to live and such. The areas his work has offices in that we are looking into are London, Sydney, and Melbourne.

If you don't mind sharing, how much does your family spend on food each month (we are a family of 6: 2 grown ups and 4 younger kids)

Also, what school districts (elementary schools) and/or neighborhoods would you recommend to be in that are good for kids, especially those with special needs? (My 9 year old son has High-Functioning Autism)

We are trying to look into areas that are affordable but not too far away from the city where my hubby would be working. I would love to be more in a suburb (I'm a country girl, not having some kind of a yard would be hard for me!!!), I'm assuming it's a little cheaper to live in the suburbs too, but city living is not totally out of the picture I suppose (my hubby would like to not have to get a car apparently, and he is very much a city boy).

Thank you in advance!! Any info would be much appreciated! I am super excited for this opportunity! It would be fun if I ended up next to some pony people! :D

Off Topic / International living with kids - advice needed!
« on: March 07, 2016, 11:49:52 PM »
So my husband has the opportunity to possibly work abroad for one or two years and my kids and I would go with him of course. It is a really exciting thing and kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity type thing that I know would be a great experience for my family, but as a mom I am a little terrified of the prospect of going to a different country with little kids and knowing how to keep everyone safe. Also my oldest son who is 8 has high functioning autism, so we are not exactly your typical family.

I am wondering if I can get some advice from those of you who live or have lived in the countries we might be able to go to, maybe how kid friendly traveling there is, or areas that are better to live in with kids (good schools, safe neighborhoods, etc), areas that are more affordable to live in (I have four kiddos!), and if anyone can share how you feel your area's autism/special needs support is, it would really help me know if this is something we can seriously consider or not! The biggest thing for me is my autistic soon and if we would be able to continue to get support for him. We've been trying to search for info online and not really finding anything super helpful.

The countries were would probably consider and my husband's company has offices in are England, Australia, Sweden, Scotland, and maybe Paris if we could afford it. I know there are lots of pony friends in those countries. Thank you in advance for your help!!

Pony Corral / rainbow ponies-help needed!
« on: November 25, 2015, 02:23:15 PM »
Hey all!

I am getting ready to throw my daughter's bday party and she wants a "rainbow unicorn" party so I though what better rainbow unicorn than THE rainbow unicorns of pony land! ^.^

I'm trying to find pictures of the G1 rainbow pony artwork to use on her invite and also as decorations for the party, but I can't seem to find any!! I must not be using the right search words or something. -.- I'm hoping my wonderful pony community can help!

I'm looking for any kind of photo/scan/etc of any G1 rainbow unicorn (Windy, Moonstone, Starflower, or Pinwheel preferred, but really any other G1 unicorn with "rainbow" hair would work!) ARTWORK (i.e. backcard art, promo materials, storybooks picture, etc, not looking for pics of actual ponies) that is in color.

THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance!

For Sale - For Auction / My Little Pony Nail Wraps! **group order**
« on: October 27, 2015, 03:15:47 PM »
I'm excited to share that I've made some MLP inspired nail wraps! I'm putting together a group order to save on shipping and processing and wondering if anyone would be interested?

These are designs I created on Jamberry's Nail Art Studio. Jamberry nail wraps are heat and pressure activated nail "stickers" that last up to 2 weeks on your fingers and 6 weeks on your toes! In one sheet you get enough wraps to do TWO manicures and TWO pedicures plus a few extra wraps for accent nails!

The NAS wraps are $25 a sheet for the first one and $20 for each additional one (includes tax and shipping). If I get enough interest than I can reduce the first sheet to $20 as well. Buy a whole sheet for yourself or split one (or more!) with a friend!

Message me if you are interested or have more questions! I am hoping to put the order in soon enough that these can be used in Holiday swaps or presents! :) I will be taking payment through Paypal.

Here are the designs I have created and are approved for purchase! I am working on Minty, I will add that one when it's done! If you'd like to see another pony let me know! (I do have to keep them fairly generic to comply with copyright issues.)

Off Topic / Need recommendations for treats from London!
« on: October 11, 2015, 11:48:53 PM »
So my hubby is in London right now in a business trip, and I'm wondering if anypony can give me a recommendation for any goodies I should ask him to bring home to me! I do have a gluten allergy, so I can't have anything with wheat, barley, or malt. So probably looking for things more in the sweets side of goodies. Would love to know of any London/England unique goodies that would be fun to try! Thanks! :D

Arts & Crafts Corral / FiM fleece blanket & skirts
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:58:36 AM »
I wasn't sure where to put this, arts and crafts corral seemed a good place

The liscened fabric was on sale the other day so I picked up the last bit of some pony fleece fabric they had, and I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in me making a tie blanket for them! I have enough for a 1 1/2 yard lap blanket and a large 3 yard or standard 2 yard blanket (the fabric is 60 inches wide).

The fabric has a rainbow background, with all six characters on it (photo below). I picked a lavender color for the back, it pretty much matches Twilight's body exactly (color looks off in the photo but it's not) and was the softest one. There were several other colors that would have worked, but they were not as soft.

I was able to get both front and back fabrics at a discount, so I can offer them lower than I thought I'd have to. Normally the pony fabric is $14.99/yard and the solid color is $8.99/yard.
I would charge $25 for the 1.5 yard lap blanket, $60 for the large 3 yard blanket, and $40 for a 2 yard blanket. All would be pony fabric on front, solid lavender on back, braided or tied edges.

Here is an example of the edges I can do. Tied on the left (my hubby's LA Lakers blanket), braided on the right (my own pony blanket).

The store currently has two more fleece prints, if anyone is interested I would be happy to pick up more fabric and make more blankets.

They also had four really cute fabrics for skirts/girl desses/tops. I took a pic of the fabrics (I have close up pics if you are interested). I am happy to go back and pick some up to make a skirt for you!

If I use my coupon, I can get them for $0.30 per inch. To figure out your cost, measure your waist (or bust for a top or dress), add two inches for seam allowance, multiply by $0.30 and add $4 for labor. They are elastic around the top. I would sew up and finish off a back seam for you. I could add ribbon straps with or without bows for an additional $3. I will post a pic of a finished skirt once I get mine done.

Thanks for looking! All money made goes to support me and my four kiddos! ^.^

Wanted! / wanted: ponyville roller coaster car
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:51:11 AM »
Hi all! My sister found the Ponyville roller coaster set at a thrift store and thought I would like it. I am wondering if anyone has the car that goes with it. I don't collect Ponyville, but I figure my girls would have fun playing with it with their tiny animal toys. PM me if you have the car please!

There's a pic of it here on MLP Land http://mlpland.com/?l=2&p=bekijk_ponyville&id=37

I only have the orange roller coaster track part, I would be interested in the little green car for sure, and also all the other parts to it too if someone has them.

Thanks!

I received my plushie from Anitas_Mom! She is so adorable, I can't stop staring at her! I LOOOVE her! Thank you Anitas_Mom! She even included some fun extras and it was all wrapped up so pretty! I had such a fun time opening it all, and my new plushie is sitting on my shelf for me to adore. :D

Look at all these pretties! Her wrapping is so gorgeous, I am tempted just to sit and admire them...but not for long... :devious:

Customs / Pearl, the Merpony
« on: August 12, 2013, 03:23:43 PM »
Merponies are one of my favorites, so when Salli showed us a picture of the awesome prize basket she was going to offer for the newbie custom contest at the NW pony meet last Saturday, I knew I had to try one out. I'm really proud of how she turned out! It was my first time painting eyes, too (THAT was intimidating! But feels good to have one under my belt now!). And of course I had to throw my own spin on things and sew a tail instead of sculpting one. :D

Pearl is made from a Carousel Rarity base (who had nasty frizzy hair and a stained leg) that I cut off the back legs. Her tail is sewn out of stretchy metallic blue swimsuit-like fabric, filled with sand with a wire running through it making her tail fully posable. Her tail fin is made out of pink organdy with wire support and silver paint around the edges. Her waist fin ruffle is organdy ribbon. Her eyes and dots are painted with both regular and metallic acrylics. Her eyes are sealed with Diamond Glaze, which really gave them a nice shiny "wet eye" look. She is haired with Dollyhair nylon Peaches and Cream that I boil braided to make a little wavy. Her hair has iridescent pin accents and a dolphin metal charm.

I hope you all like her!

Customs / Love Swap Pony for Corona
« on: April 24, 2013, 11:35:41 AM »
Here is the custom I made for Corona as part of the Love Swap. She arrived safe and sound and Corona says she likes her! This was only my second full custom pony and I went through many ideas but finally came to this one and I am proud of how she turned out! Corona's favorite colors were orange and ocean blue, so I knew I wanted to try to use those colors, and she also put that she likes exotic bugs and bees, so in the end I decided to do a bee pony! I went for a TAF G3 pony, with a little different bee style than G1 Honeycomb and blue hair. :)

She is haired with a blend of Blue Raspberry and Summer Sky monofiber hair from RetrodollsUS. I left lit long and straight because it's SO soft to stroke, and curling or crimping it really takes away from the silkiness in my opinion. She kept her Hasbro eyes, but symbols and wings are painted with acrylics and sealed with Country Colors Satin Varnish and Sealer. Her wings are hand made out of plastic and painted to look like real bee wings, then individually glued in with diamond glaze. She also came with a removable felt bee hair clip that I made.

The Dollhouse / I've come over to the dark side... up to 11 dolls now!
« on: March 28, 2013, 04:15:50 PM »
Edit:

So I just got a new Howleen! I was in Target and checked the Monster High isle and saw dance class Howleen, and while I was never super impressed with her from pics on the web, in person she really won me over! So she came home with me. I decided I didn't like her belt, though, so that will be up for sale/trade. I almost bought Scaris Draculaura too, but decided I better not spend too much money since my poor old kitty is visiting the vet today. I think eventually I'd like to get Clawdeen, to have Howleen's big sis, and Nefaria too, to have Cleo's big sis, since I love the idea of siblings.  ^.^

And here's everyone so far!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Lagoona's fins are not on since I was letting my daughters play with them and I was afraid her fins will get lost. And usually I don't like to have two of the same character, but I ended up with a second Cleo (my favorite doll) and decided it was going to be her twin sister :D (whose name I have not come up with yet, suggestions anyone?).

There's definitely some dolls I'd still like to get, but I'm pretty proud of my little group! :D

Original Post:

Hey all, so I've been very determined that I would not fall for these monster high dolls and kept telling everyone that I couldn't understand why they were so popular. And then I am doing a trade for clothing (I do have Barbies) and decided it would be smart to have a monster high to be my model so I can get sizing right. SO I started looking on eBay and kept catching myself saying "oh she's cute" "I like her face shape" "she's got cute hair"...  :| So long story short I just got my first three monster high dolls in the mail today!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

They are all wearing makeshift dresses made out of baby socks that I threw together for them so they wouldn't be naked. I bought them nude off eBay for about $12 each (hopefully I didn't get ripped off, but that seemed like an ok price).

Cleo is my favorite, I love her skin/hair colors and I'm a big ancient Egypt fan too.
Lagoona was the first one I won, who then sucked me into buying more from the same seller since I was already buying one. :P I do like her hair color and face shape, and her fins are kinda fun.
Abbey I had to get because she's glittery. I'm still deciding if I like her hair or not, although I like it much better in person than I thought I would. :)

I decided I think I just am not a fan of all the black skulls and halloween themed packaging, but I do appreciate the clever idea of having sons and daughters of famous monsters. And a lot of their clothing is pretty cute. There were several others I kept thinking, "ooh, I want that one", like some of the werecats and Holt Hyde and even Draculaura is cute and Frankie has a cute face. There are still some that don't appeal to me, but many that I think are pretty cute once they are out of the packaging. I may end up with a few more.

I did have a question for more experienced MH collectors. I know they have those create a monster packs where all the body pieces come apart and all that, but is everything supposed to come apart with the regular MH characters as well? I thought I remember reading somewhere about taking hands and feet off to get these dolls dressed sometimes.

Here's my wishlist.

I'm not really familiar with all the different releases - I tried to take them from the MH guide. I'm more interested in the dolls than the clothes so I'm happy to take them nude, especially if that gets me a better price ;) (although I wouldn't mind taking shoes! ) I bolded the ones I want more than the others.

I get spending money only occasionally, but feel free to let me know if you have something in my list, especially the bolded ones. And give me a month or so and I'll have custom clothing to trade (or I'll be able to take commissions after I'm done with my current one).

Frankiestein - Favorite is killer style wave 1, also would take Gloom beach, signature release 2 ( or rerelease), dead tired, ghouls alive
Draculaura - Gloom Beach, killer style, skull shores, dead tired wave 2, Scaris
